Kevin Kiermaier ('08) -- Tampa Bay Rays

Was voted by the Rays as Best Defensive Player in the organization in 2012.  Kevin was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 31st Round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Parkland College. Kevin made his major league debut with the Rays on September 30, 2013 for the wild-card tie breaking game in Arlington, TX. He entered the game in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement.  Kevin spent the majority of the 2014 season with Tampa. He has become a fan favorite with the Rays.

Kevin's road to the Rays has taken him to Princeton, WV (2010), Bowling Green, KY (2011), Port Charlotte, FL (2012), Montgomery, AL (2013), and Durham, NC (2013, 2014).   He was named a Southern League All-Star in 2013, and was promoted to Durham midway through the season.  Kevin finished the year with the Bulls, playing in the AAA National Championship Game.  He started the 2014 season with Durham, before being called up to the Rays for a weekend series in Cincinnati in April.  Kevin returned to the Rays in May and stayed for the rest of the year.  He played in 108 games for the Rays, ending the season with a .263 batting average, 10 home runs, and 35 RBI. Defensively, Kevin continued to impress, making several highlight-worthy plays in the outfield.

"The Outlaw" finished the 2015 season with a .263 batting average, 40 RBI, and 10 home runs.  He led the Rays with 12 triples, 2nd in all of MLB. Kevin was third in the American League with 15 outfield assists (first among all MLB centerfielders).
