Little League World Series Bus Trip

Lampeter-Strasburg Little League is sponsoring a bus to see the first Saturday of the Little League World Series tournament on Saturday, August 22, 2009.   Ticket price per person is $30.00. There are 54 seats available on a first come first served basis and payment must be received by July 22 in order to reserve a seat.

Checks for this event are payable to LS Little League and mailed to;

   Greg Snyder
                           20 Plank Avenue
                           Willow Street, PA  17584

We will be traveling in a coach style bus (with toilet) provided by Executive Coach, Inc.  The bus will depart the LS High School parking lot at 7:30a.m. and leave Williamsport at 8:30p.m.  Weather permitting we should have a chance to see three full games and one partial game (6:00p.m.) before leaving Williamsport

We will need to have at least 40 seats paid by July 22 or the trip will be canceled. All checks will be held in a safe deposit box until July 22.  Please check the L-S Little League website to see if there was adequate participation to order the bus.  If there is, your checks will be processed.  If the trip is canceled your check will be returned.

For those who may have never been to Williamsport to see a tournament game, there are two very nice stadiums located in the Little League complex.  Games are free to attend and both stadiums have some seating that is under roof.  Seating at games is first come first served.  Concession stands on site are reasonably priced and the Little League Museum is a quarter mile from the stadiums.  There is a modest admission fee to the museum.

There are five games scheduled for August 22.  The first game is scheduled to start at 11:00 and the last game is scheduled to start at 8:00.  Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to let someone else drive, see great Little League baseball and perhaps future MLB stars.

New for 2009 Baseball - Bat Identification

March 26, 2009

NOTICE TO PARENTS, PLAYERS AND LEAGUES:  IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THE PURCHASE OF A NEW COMPOSITE METAL BAT FOR USE IN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL (Major Division and below), BE SURE THAT THE BAT YOU ARE PURCHASING HAS THIS MARKING:  BPF 1.15 ON THE BARREL OR HANDLE OF THE BAT.  IF NOT, IT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR PLAY IN LITTLE LEAGUE GAMES.

Little League officials are aware that there are bats for sale in stores, online or that may have already been purchased that are Little League approved, but do not have the required bat performance standard (BPF) markings.  In fact, some of the bats on the Little League approved bat list may not carry the required BPF 1.15 marking on the bat, depending on when they were manufactured and licensed. Currently manufacturers are conducting an inventory and re-testing of all approved bats.  The results of this study / retesting is to be finished by March 31, 2009.  We are building a list of certain bats that are approved, but do not have the BPF marking due to special circumstances.  For these bats, we are extending eligibility for play until December 31, 2009.  As we are made aware of bats that meet our criteria for this extension, we will add them to the list.  Please check this list regularly for updates.
HOWEVER, ONLY BATS WITH THE BPF 1.15 MARKING AND THE BATS ON THIS LIST WILL BE ALLOWED FOR PLAY IN 2009.

Bats with the special exception include the following:

Adidas Vanquish Blue design   (There is a newer model of this bat, also named the Vanquish and it has copper and black markings.  It contains the proper labeling and therefore is not subject to the one-year rule).
DeMarini  -   Black Coyote, Rogue, Distance, Rumble, Tengu, Mach 10, Patriot

Easton   -   LZ-810, LZ-800, Stealth Optiflex LST 1,
Louisville Slugger - YB31
NIKE -  Areo
Sincerely,
Little League International
