Welcome to the official homepage of the Lake Ridge Lancers Summer Swim Team. We are a member of the Prince William Swim League(PWSL) and we are located in Woodbridge,Va.
We are affiliated with and practice at the Lake Ridge Community Swim Club. We are always seeking new Lancer Swim Team members. See the 2009 Registration form (below) for more details or contact Russ Vogel vogelred@aol.com or Lori McDonald Lancermom@verizon.net for additional information.

Parent’s Meeting
Just a reminder that our Parent’s Meeting will be held this Thursday, April 29th at 7:00 pm at the Occoquan Bible Church located on the corner of Old Bridge Road and Springwoods Drive.
All Lancers – returning, new, and potential are invited to join us!
· Meet the swim team board of directors
· Meet the coaching staff
· Register for the upcoming season
· Buy Lancer apparel at fabulous prices!
· Try on and order swim suits
Registration Information
Attached, you will find the registration and medical forms for the 2010 season.
· Swimmer registration fees have remained the same as last season
· Modest increase ($5) in the family activity fee
· Be sure to indicate where you might like to volunteer – this season all Lancer families have a mandatory obligation to help out.
TeamUnify
We are excited to announce that in the upcoming weeks, the Lancers will be transitioning to TeamUnify – a swim team management platform. This change will allow us to run the team more efficiently and make it much easier for our swimmers and their families. With TeamUnify you will be able to:
· Sign up for swim meet volunteer positions on line
· Check and update your volunteer assignments
· Access team statistics
· Access meet results (for the last 10 years!)
· Receive team notifications (ok – this is the email part – it’s really easier for me!)
· Eventually…make online payments (not this season, however)
Please bear with us as we make this transition happen. Once it is complete, you will be notified to register with the Lake Ridge Lancers via TeamUnify by creating a free account. This will give you access to all things Lancer related!

Attached, please find the 2010 Calendar of Events and the Practice Schedule. Note that there are several dates that will be added to the calendar (parents’ parties!)
*The practice schedule times are subject to slightly change to accommodate team needs. Rest assured that I will let you know if/when this happens.
2010 Coaches
Coach Kristen will return for a fifth season as our Head Coach. We are excited to announce 6 of our coaches from last season plan to return for another great season. In addition, several experienced Lancer swimmers will join the coaching staff. We will announce the full staff at the Parent’s Meeting this Thursday.

Division Status
Due to rapid growth of other teams in the Prince William County Swim League, the small, but mighty Lancers are now part of the Red Division. We were previously in the Blue Division. This means that we will swim Victory Lakes and Ridgewood in our end-of-the-season divisional meet.
Meet Schedule
Attached, please find the calendar for this year. Included are all important dates - Pool Open House, Time Trials, Swim Schedule, Banquet Date, and more! We are hoping to add one or two parent’s parties!!
Call for Coaches

Parent’s Meeting Scheduled
We have scheduled a parent’s meeting for Thursday, April 29th at the Occoquan Bible Church. Start time is 7:00. More details to follow.
New Suit Rules
USA Swimming House has adopted new rules regarding swimwear which limited swimsuits used for competitive purposes to those swimsuits which are in compliance with specifications established by FINA, the international governing body for the sport of swimming.
- Swimsuits for men may not extend above the navel or below the knee and for women may not cover the neck, or extend past the shoulders or below the knee
- Material used for swimsuits can be only textile material which is defined as materials consisting of natural and/or synthetic, individual and non-consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding. Simply put, this would generally refer to suits made only from nylon or Lycra that do not have any rubberized material such as polyurethane or neoprene
- No zippers or other fastening devices are allowed except for a waist tie on a brief or jammer.
Mandatory Volunteer Participation
Starting with the 2010 swim season, the Lake Ridge Lancer swim team will require parents/guardians of swim team members to volunteer their time in connection with Lancer swim meets. This is being undertaken to ensure an equitable distribution of volunteer efforts among team parents and to reduce the workload (and scheduling uncertainty) volunteers have had to endure in prior seasons. More information regarding this new system will be forthcoming.
Stroke & Turn Classes
Would you like a volunteer position that guarantees you access to the pool deck while your child is swimming? If so, please consider becoming a stroke and turn official. Training classes will be held at the following times (you need attend only one class):
Ÿ June 5th (Saturday), 9-12 at Bristow Run Elementary School
Ÿ June 16th (Wednesday), 7-9:30 at Bristow Run Elementary School
Record Cabinet
We are currently looking for ideas and volunteers (oooh - a corporate sponsor would be nice!) to help refurbish the Lancer Record Cabinet that is located next to Paul’s Place. Please contact George Ehlers at George.Ehlers.ctr@osd.mil.
