LRFC 95s Beat South Lakes SC Cosmos 1-0 to Open CCC
The LRFC 95 girls squared off with the South Lakes SC Cosmos from Oklahoma in their first game of the Capital City Cup at Burns Park under sunny skies and warm fall temperatures. The Cosmos came into the game looking for their first victory of the season, but were denied a win by Blue in a 1-0 victory. LRFC proved to be the better team on the field possessing the ball for most of the game and shutting down or tuning back Cosmo attacks on the LRFC goal. Meghan was credited with scoring LRFC's only goal, but several of her teammates (Cat, Ellen, Natalie and Kaitlin) came close to finding the net in the tight win. Caitlin and Nasreen both played a half in front of the net and secured the team's first shutout of the tournament. Even though the win wasn't as decisive as it could have been it most certainly was the result a team needs to stay alive for the finals in a tournament like the Capital City Cup.
