LRFC 95 Blue Secures 3-2 Win Over Bryant 94s
LRFC faced off with Bryant 94 girls on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Soccer Fields. Blue scored first in the 15th minute when Meghan passed the ball to Melissa who fired her shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage. Three minutes later Bryant knotted the score at one apiece. Both teams continued to battle for control of the ball till the 32nd minute when Melissa passed the ball on an attack to Cat who scored up the middle on a high shot into the net to put Blue up 2-1. Bryant answered just with their second goal 7 minutes later which ended the scoring in the first half with the teams tied 2-2. In the second period LRFC scored a third go ahead goal late in the half when Melissa again passed the ball forward to Katelyn who scored on a nice uncontested shot on goal. Bryant was not able to answer and LRFC finished on top 3-2. Blue had six girls take a total of 12 shots on goal with Melissa and Ellen leading the way with 3 shots apiece, Cat (2), Katelyn (2), Kate (1) and Meghan (1). Sara took one corner kick for Blue while Bryant was awarded four corner kicks in the game, but neither team was able to capitalize on the set plays. LRFC limited Bryant to 10 shots on goal, 2 of which found the back of the net. Overall the game was pretty competitive and a good test for the LRFC U15 girls. Way to go Blue!
