About the Pop Warner Little Scholars Coaches Education Program Pop Warner Little Scholars, the foremost youth football and cheer and dance organization, has partnered with leading coaching education provider American Sport Education Program (ASEP) to develop and deliver new Pop Warner-specific coaching education courses for youth football and cheer and dance coaches. These courses are aimed at educating Pop Warner coaches in order to provide the most positive experience for all Pop Warner participants.

The organizations collaborated on the development of the following online courses:

Coaching Youth Football: The Pop Warner Way

Coaching Youth Cheer and Dance: The Pop Warner Way

PWLS requires all of its head coaches to take a Pop Warner approved coaching education course. The online courses satisfy the Pop Warner mandatory head coaching requirement. Pop Warner implemented its mandatory coaching education program in 2005. The program requires that each head coach complete a Pop Warner approved coaching course in order to foster a safe learning environment for its young participants, and further the educational mission of Pop Warner. The ASEP program enables Pop Warner to offer its online course options to cheerleading and dance coaches as well as football coaches. ASEP will offer a comprehensive youth football, cheer, and dance curriculum—designed by Pop Warner and ASEP—that includes coaching exercises, activities, videos, and quizzes to reinforce key coaching tactics.

“The Pop Warner program strives to instill the highest levels of sportsmanship, scholarship, and safe play in our young athletes across the country,” said Jon Butler, Executive Director of Pop Warner Little Scholars. “Our partnership with ASEP will provide an unparalleled and comprehensive coaching education and recertification experience for our football, cheer, and dance coaches. The Pop Warner mission begins with our coaches, so it is imperative that each coach be educated and trained to the highest standards.” Coaches pass the course by achieving a score of 80 percent or better.

Coaches who pass the course can print a certificate of course completion from the website. The course is valid for three years.
