Hi Longhorns Nation,

   The preparation for the 50th year of football and cheerleading has begun!  Registration is open! Tackle football will be $175 if registered by Fun Day (June 3, 2012), $195 thereafter; cheerleading is $130; and flag football is $95.

   Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, June 3, 2012, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at our home field!  All flag players, tackle players, and cheerleaders are invited for free food and games!    Tackle football players will select their jersey numbers and cheerleaders will be measured for their warmup suits.  If you have any questions about Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc., please come out to Fun Day as our entire Board of Directors as well as most of our Head Coaches will be in attendance.

   Our next Board of Directors meeting is Monday, June 11, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 7155.  Agenda items will include preparation for the NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick event.  For the second year, we will be hosting the NFL's Punt, Pass, and Kick competition which is open to all boys and girls age 5 to 15!  You do not need to be a Longhorn to enter.   We will also be preparing for the first day of practices for tackle football and cheer which is Wednesday, August 1, 2012!! 

   I am thrilled to be one of the stewards of this venerable program for our 50th year!  For 2012, we will continue to make improvements to our facilities and equipment!  We expect our Pep Rally, Homecoming, and banquets to be extra special this year to not only celebrate 50 great years in the community but also to kickoff another 50 great years!!

   The annual Bux-Mont League Banquet was held at the Williamstown Inn on January, 21 2012.  The Longhorns were once again the recipients of many awards.  Brendan Schimpf and Andrew Light were named to the 2011 All Bux-Mont Academic Team.  Coach Zach Santangelo's 105 pound Division 1 team won the 2011 Bux-Mont League Team Scholastic Award for the  team with the highest combined G.P.A. of any team in the Bux-Mont league.  Coach Zach's team had a combined G.P.A. of 96%!

   Coach Rich DiRico was named the 2011 Bux-Mont Coach of the Year for the 80 pound division.  Coach Rich was nominated by another association for demonstrating superior sportsmanship! 

      The 49th Annual Homecoming Weekend was held on September 30th through October 2nd.  There were Cowplops, moonbounces, games, music, specialty foods, Kicking for Cones, Homecoming Court, football games and of course, a Competitive Cheer Championship!!  Can you imagine next season and the landmark 50th Year Anniversary?!?!?!?!
