LEDYARD-PAWCATUCK 2014 AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL SEASON

Final Message for the 2014 LP Season

The 2014 LP Season officially came to an end at out annual team picnic on Thursday August 7th.  It was an exceptional turnout from both the Senior and Junior team players and all the parents.  I want to give a special thanks to all the parents that help make the 2014 season a success for all of us.  I really hope that everyone had a great experience, played lots of baseball and got to work and learn some new things as they progress toward their HS seasons.

To Coach George Francis who has been for many years the foundation that has been the success of LP Baseball.  To his beautiful wife Linda who as if you didn't notice during the picnic Coach Francis reading of awardee stats, it's because Linda is one of the best at keeping the books for us.  Without her we would not have clear and up to date numbers on all our players.  Thank you Linda!

To Coach Bruce who in his first year as LP Juniors Coach achived an exceptional accomplishment leading the LP JRs to a 15-5 record a top of Zone 6 standing.  His dedication and pride to succeed was evident is the teams commitment to playing hard, winning several games in their last at bat and wanting to win while learning the basics of baseball and team play in the process.

Coach Bruce, Great Job!!!

Awards

As we do every season when it's conclusion nears, we the coaches ask the player to vote on three awards for the Senior team and two for the Junior Team.  Selecting their choice for Most Valuable Players, Unsung Hero's for both SRs & JRs and a Rookie of the Year for the SR's.  These are selected by the players of each team at their respective levels.  The Rookie of the Year is selected only at the Senior Level because it displays the hard work a player shows at our most top level.  It is not selected at the Junior level because for the most part most of our JRs are just coming into the JR Level or progressing to reach the Senior level as some point in their careers as they move up.

The 2014 Award Winners

Seniors:

Most Valuable Player:  Troy Stefanski - OF / SS / P

Rookie of the Year:  Bryce Bedard - P / 3B / DH

Unsung Hero:  Michael Dellaporta - 2B / P

Juniors:

Most Valuable Player:  Michael Bruce - P / SS

Unsung Hero:  Sam Foster - CF / P

So in closing for the 2014 LP Season, I want to say thank you to all and we start our preps for next season all over again January 2015.  Stay tune for details.

Thank you all and have a great rest of the summer 2014!!!

SENIOR WRAP-UP

While our season may not have ended up the way we would have wanted, I want to thank our players for their dedication and commitment throughout the season.  Playing Legion baseball is a serious commitment for the players and their families.  I appreciate the effort everyone has made to get to every game.  We have a great group of kids who I enjoyed working with very much.

I want to thank all the parents who helped work on the field after games, brought drinks and gave rides all year long.  We could not do this without your support.  Lastly, I want to thank Coach Cruz and Coach Levis for all their help and support.  They give countless hours of their time and they are great role models for our kids.  I can not thank them enough.  To Nate, Kavan and Brenden, thank you for your commitment to our program over the past 5 years.  Thank you for putting up with me and you have all been great representatives for LP Baseball.  We will miss you and I wish you all well in your future endeavors.  To the rest of our players I hope all of you come back again next year.  I know you will only be better and more successful.

Coach Francis
