LOWER PERK LITTLE LEAGUE CELEBRATION DAY

SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2012

Lower Perk Little League Day will begin with a parade, complete with fire truck and police escort!  Following the parade, important ceremonies will be held at our own Field of Dreams on Field 1.  After the ceremonies, there will be a full day of games and we will end the day with a HOMERUN DERBY open to ages 5 to 105!!

THE PARADE:
Get your camcorders and cameras ready…. parents, grandparents, brothers, and sisters, find a good spot along the parade route to see your favorite ballplayer make their grand entrance!

Our fire truck and police escort will lead us on a route along Heckler Road, around Skippack Elementary School entering the Skippack Township office parking lot, past Field 5 and finally entering Field 1 for the ceremonies. Each team will be announced as it enters the field.

There will be two staging areas for the parade: T-Ball, Pony, AAA, Softball Minor, and Softball Rookies will assemble at the playground area at the rear of Skippack Elementary School.  All other baseball and softball players will organize at the small soccer field next to the large baseball field in the Palmer Park parking lot on Heckler Road (the side of the Park opposite our fields).  Attached is the parade order.

The parade will assemble at 9:00 a.m. in the designated areas and the Parade will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. The fire truck and police escort will be in place and we will step off no later than 9:30 a.m., so don’t be late!

So that the teams look their best, players must wear full uniforms, including hats! For the parade, make sure that they do NOT bring any game equipment like gloves, balls, or bats.

THE CEREMONIES:
Each team will be introduced as they make a grand entrance onto Field #1.  Renowned Philadelphia Disc Jockey Matt Hammond will be performing as the teams enter the field.   A welcoming statement from our President, Kirk Kirkman, and important award presentations (some of which are a surprise) will highlight the short, yet important ceremonies!  Entertaining with his incredible juggling talents will be our own Aidan Webster!  Don’t leave before the skydiver drops by with the raffle ticket winner!! Did you turn in your raffle tickets to the snackstand? Due to the cancellation of game on Monday the drop off time for tickets has been extended till Friday, April 27, 2012.  Get to the Snackstand.

THE ENTERTAINMENT:
The Snackstand will be rocking with traditional favorites, and there are always specialty items on Celebration Day!   Kids look for Skippy, LPLL’s official mascot, who will be entertaining with giveaways and is known to give an autograph or two!  As always, the ever popular speed pitch machine will be ready to go to test your arm.  The fastest pitch by a player in each division will win an LPLL fun bag (not to mention serious bragging rights!).  New this year will be a quarterback toss sponsored by the Lower Perk Longhorns of Pop Warner football and cheerleading!

DOG PARADE AND COMPETITION:
New for 2012 will be the Dog Parade and Competitions hosted by our longtime LPLL sponsor, Bark Busters along with Aussie Pet Mobile Dog Groomers and the Montgomery County Animal Response Team (MCART)!  At 11:00 a.m., the dog parade will begin adjacent to our snackstand!  At 11:30 a.m., the contests begin.  Prizes for the following categories will be awarded: best owner/pet costume duo; best pet costume; longest tail/shortest tail; largest ears/smallest ears; and smallest/largest dog.  Prizes for all categories will be dog toys, supplied by Bark Busters. The Prize for best owner/pet costume duo will be a dog themed gift basket.  Remember that all dogs must be on a leash at all times and please curb your dog.
GIVING BACK:
With almost 1000 boys and girls playing baseball and softball at Lower Perk, we can be a powerful force in helping others. Our local Girl Scout troop, 7216 in Skippack is participating in Baby Bundles 2012. Please see this link: http://www.gsep.org/girls/baby-bundles.php .  We will be collecting new baby items throughout the day at the snackstand to be distributed to needy mothers and infants in the Delaware Valley. Please help by bringing any of the following items including: clothing, infants’ toys, bottles, pacifiers, bowls and spoons, bath items and toiletries, nursing items, formula, diapers, and hand-made items such as booties, hats, quilts, and receiving blankets. All items must be new and unused. Thank you!
THE GAMES:
LPLL will play a full slate of games beginning at 12:00 p.m. The forecast is calling for mid-60’s and sunny! PLAY BALL!

GOT LIGHTS!?
YES WE DO!!  As the sun goes down on Palmer Park, the fun is just getting started because “we got lights”!!  At 6:00 p.m., the LPLL Second Annual Home Run Derby begins hosted by the Pennsylvania Baseball Academy.  The Derby is open to all ages 5 to 105 and the cost is $5.00 for 3 balls.  The more homeruns you hit, the better your chances are at winning the Grand Prize of $100.00 cash!!  Second and third place finishers will also receive a cash prize!

Parking at Palmer Park

There are three primary parking lots that can be used when attending ballgames at Palmer Park: the Park’s lot on Creamery Road, the Park’s lot on Heckler Road, and the parking lots at Skippack Elementary School. Please note that the lot on Creamery Road has two entrances and two separate large areas for parking: one by the ballfields and one by the playgrounds. Please park in designated parking areas only. Parking in unpaved areas is strictly prohibited. Please park only in designated spaces; parking in traffic lanes is prohibited (and dangerous).

The parking lot at the Skippack Township Municipal Building can also be used as an overflow parking area after all other parking areas are full on weekends. Parking is strictly prohibited on nights of Township Meetings. Regularly scheduled meetings include those of the Board of Supervisors (second Wednesday of each month) and the Planning Commission (third Monday of each month).

Please respect our neighbors and park only in designated lots. Again, please do not park on private property or unpaved areas. Plan on enjoying the trails at the Park and utilize all parking areas.
