Lower Perkiomen Little League: 2015 LP Baseball and Softball Divisions

Tee Ball
For 4 - 5 year olds. Three inning games with all players in the field; a half inning ends when the entire offensive team has batted once. All hitting takes place from a batting tee the entire season. All players play the entire game.

Pony
For 6 year olds. Three inning games with all players in the field; a half inning ends when the entire offensive team has batted once. During the first half of the season all hitting will take place from a batting tee. During the second half of the season, pitching will be optional for all players. A maximum of four pitches will be delivered to each batter. A batter may only reach base by a batted ball. If the player has not reached base after four pitches, the player must then hit the ball from the tee. All players play the entire game.

AAA
For 7 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings with all players in the field; a half inning ends when the entire team has batted once. During the first quarter of the season the pitching will be done by adults. A maximum of 6 pitches will be thrown to each batter. If the batter has not reached base after 6 pitches, the batter must hit from a tee. During the remaining 3 quarters of the season, players will pitch the entire game with a no walks rule in effect, however a 3 strike rule is observed either by called strikes or swinging strikes. If a pitcher progresses to a 4 ball count or hits the batter, an adult from the batting team must come in to finish the at bat. A maximum of 6 pitches can then be thrown by the adult and if the batter does not still reach base, the batter is out. A tee is not used during the remaining 3 quarters of the season. Pitch counts are observed as a pitcher cannot pitch more than two consecutive innings or 50 pitches a game. A Pitchers rest must follow Little League guidelines and Lower Perk NL East pitching guidelines. A batter may only reach base by a batted ball. Bunting is not permitted. All players play the entire game.

National League East
For 8 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard baseball positioning is followed except four outfielders are used. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. During the first quarter of the season pitching will be performed by adults. During the remaining three quarters of the season players will pitch the entire game, with a “no walk rule” in effect (if a pitcher progresses to a four ball count, the pitcher steps aside and an adult pitcher from the batting team comes in to pitch). Bunting is permitted when players are pitching. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game.

National League West
For 9 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard baseball positioning is followed. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. All pitching is performed by the players with the consecutive walk rule in effect. During the second half of the season stealing of second and third base is allowed when the players are pitching and there is neither a passed ball nor a wild pitch. ). Bunting is permitted when players are pitching. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game.

American League
For 10 and 11 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard Little League rules of play apply. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game.

Major League
For 11 and 12 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard Little League rules of play apply. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game. Players must tryout for the Major League.

Perkette Softball

Rookies Softball
For 7 and 8 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard infield positioning is followed; the remaining players assume outfield positions. All players play the entire game. During the entire season pitching will be performed by adults. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game.

Minor League Softball
For 9, 10, and 11 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard baseball positioning is followed except four outfielders are used. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. Players will pitch the entire game, with a “no walk rule” in effect (if a pitcher progresses to a four ball count, the pitcher steps aside and an adult pitcher from the batting team comes in to pitch). Stealing of second and third is permitted when players are pitching. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game.

Major League Softball
For 10, 11, and 12 year olds. A regulation game consists of 6 innings. Standard Little League rules of play apply. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. There are no offensive substitutes. The batting order will consist of all players present for the game. Players must tryout for the Major League.

Junior, Senior, and Big League Baseball
A regulation game consists of 7 innings. Games are played on regulation baseball fields (90’ base paths). In general, standard baseball rules of play apply. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. During regular season play there are no offensive substitutes. The batting order consists of all players present for the game. Games are played throughout District 27. The Junior League consists of players ages 13 and 14; the Senior League consists of players 15 and 16 years old; and the Big League consists of players 16, 17, and 18 years old.

Senior and Big League Softball
A regulation game consists of 7 innings. In general, standard softball rules of play apply. All players must play a minimum of four innings per game. Games are played throughout District 27. The Senior League consists of players 13 through 16 years old; and the Big League consists of players 15 through 18 years old.

Challenger Division
The Challenger League is a rewarding, Little League sanctioned, division that “provides boys and girls with disabilities the opportunity to experience the emotional development and the fun of playing Little League Baseball”. The league was designed to provide opportunities for children with special needs of all types, and is open to children 5 to 18 years old (21 if they are still attending high school). The non-competitive games are played on Sunday afternoons from April through June. We also practice during the week. Our home games are played at the Lower Perkiomen Major League field. We travel for our “away” games during the course of the season.
