Xtreme Force Wins Flames Summer Challenge

Loudoun Xtreme Force wins Gold at 2013 Flames Summer Challenge

6/16/2013 – The Loudoun Xtreme Force broke through for their first tournament win of the 2013 season.  After waiting all day to travel to Boyds, MD, the Force was chomping at the bit to play their first game at 5:45 PM.  A strong first half resulted in putting up 30 points, enabling the Force to beat the Urbana Elite by a final score of 46 – 33.

The next game at 8:15 PM was against the MD Hoopmasters, a team that had beaten the Force previously this season.  After a tough first half in which the Force led by 4, the team came out in the 2nd half ready to get some revenge.  The Force outscored the Hoopmaters 21 – 8 in the second half to come away with a 46 – 29 win, going 2 -0 in pool play and securing a spot in the Championship game.

With an early start time against the much bigger DE Dribblers, the Force found themselves down by 10 points at halftime in the Championship game.  The Dribblers maintained a 10 point lead most of the game until the turning point came with about 4:30 left in the game.  With the never give up attitude, the Force came out of a timeout with a plan to try and chip away 1 basket at a time and get some defensive stops.  Showing renewed energy and ready for the stretch run, the Force hit back to back 3 pointers and the momentum started to change.  Next came two straight steals that helped the Force cut the lead to 1 with 2 minutes to play.  Things were rolling now and as the Force inbounded under their own basket with about 1:30 left in the game, they called their “Door” play that resulted in another 3, and the Force took their first lead of the game 50 – 48.  The Force did not let up and scored 7 more points in the last minute to win the game 57 – 50.

April 28, 2013. Lady Xtreme Black continued their successful early season while earning a berth in the 2013 AAU Nationals at the Virginia AAU Division 2 District Championship held in Spotsylvania, VA.

After a tough set of pool play games,  Lady Xtreme beat a feisty Chesterfield Aces (Richmond) team in overtime 48-39. Chesterfield hit a shot at the buzzer to send the game into OT and it looked like the Aces had all of the momentum but Lady Xtreme re-grouped and outscored the Aces 11-2 in overtime to secure a birth in the final.

In the championship game, Lady Xtreme faced a strong Slam City (Virginia Beach) team for the 2nd time after narrowly defeating them in pool play 49-48. The game was an absolute battle and Lady Xtreme came up short 57-51. Coach Green noted "This was one of the best played games that we have been part of as a team. The girls twice closed double digit deficits to 1 in the second half but we couldn't get over the hump."

April 14, 2013. In its 3rd tournament of the 2013 campaign, the Loudoun Xtreme Pride team used balanced play from all positions to capture the Max Exposure Tournament of Champions in Martinsburg.  On Saturday, after a convincing victory in a warm-up game against a 10th grade team, the shorthanded Pride squad took on an athletic Jersey City Boys Club and lost in a closely contested fight.  Not to be discouraged, the Pride returned on Sunday at nearly full strength and lead wire-to-wire against a sharp shooting Cumberland Celtics team in the semi-finals setting up a rematch against the Jersey City Boys Club.  In a game that saw several shifts in momentum, the Pride and Boys Club battled to a tie with less than a minute remaining in regulation.  After holding the ball for what the Jersey City Boys Club thought would be their last shot of the game, the Pride made a last second steal on a Boys Club drive to the basket and Kevion Bradley made a last second layup to capture the championship.

Loudoun Xtreme Pride - 2011 Virginia Elite Hoops YDL Fall Champions

Loudoun Xtreme Pride captures the 1st Annual Virginia Elite Hoops Youth Development League Championship

November 20, 2011 - The championship game for the 1st annual Virginia Elite Hoops Youth Development League (YDL) Fall season was between the #1 seeded Loudoun Xtreme Pride and #4 seeded Loudoun Bombers.

Xtreme was leading the YDL in many offensive categories but the Bombers, after defeating two tough playoff opponents, were on a mission. From the tip-off, Xtreme coaches Dexter Turner and John Barnes got their team into high gear to take control of the game. The inside play of the game’s MVP, #14 - Jonathan Roebuck, without question was the key to Xtreme's quick start. Jonathan lead all scorers with 16 points.

The Loudoun Bombers relied on what got them to the championship game, after winning payoff games against the Virginia Elite and VYB Barons squads, they knew not to give up on their quest. The Bombers attempted to get back into the game with consistent play down the stretch but with a large lead, Xtreme pride held on to capture the championship 58-31.

Giving Back the Xtreme Way
Giving Back the Xtreme Way!
June 3, 2011

Our Loudoun Xtreme Pride Team decided to get down and dirty with a little community service this weekend.  They enjoyed helping Miss Judie, (who is a part of the Loudoun Caregiver system and confined to a walker), weed her back yard and add some color with some beautiful begonia’s.

It was a genuine team effort as their busy hands raked, weeded, planted and watered! Who knew one could have as much fun without a basketball! Even the parents got involved! Miss Judie was pleased as could be to be able to enjoy her back yard once again- weed free!  Loudoun Xtreme was even happier to be of help to a very special community resident.

Check out more photos in the Community Services photo album.

Loudoun Xtreme 1st Annual Car Wash
Xtremely Wet, Wild and Clean!
May 7, 2011

Who said fundraising had to be dry and boring??!! Not Loudoun Xtreme! The wetter the better! On a beautiful sunny day in early May Loudoun Xtreme took to Market Street espousing (at the top of their lungs) the confidence they had in their superior carwashing abilities.

Wearing wigs, smiley faces and cat in the hat apparel, they definitely drew a curious crowd to the Roy Rogers in downtown Leesburg. After nearly four hours in the sun, they had raised over $1000.00 for all three 12U boys teams. Not bad for a “donation only” request! Not to mention they really did a very fine job on each and every willing vehicle!

2011 Virgnia Invitational Tournament - 12U Champions

Loudoun Xtreme Pride - 12U/6th
2011 Virginia Invitational Tournament - Fairfax, VA
12U - Champions
May 13-15

Where there is thunder, there is lightening. The Virginia Invitational (May 13-15) let the storm ensue between Loudoun Xtreme’s lightening quickness and Arlington Thunder’s rumble. It made for some great basketball action from beginning to end.

In a rematch of a semi-finals game during the March 2011 - East Coast Battle of the Best Tournament, Arlington Thunder avenged a loss and rolled away with a 3 point victory over a sluggish Xtreme Pride squad.   After a night’s rest and reflection upon the loss, the Xtreme dispatched of an old nemesis, Winchester Rising Stars (55-16) and followed with a solid win over the Stafford Magic (38-18). Xtreme Pride’s next game was an exciting semi-finals match-up with another local rival, the Fairfax Stars.  After falling behind 15 points in the 1st half, the Xtreme’s signature defense and never give up attitude propelled the squad to a hard fought victory, 57-54.

The storm was brewing with Xtreme Pride and Arlington Thunder to do battle once again in the grudge match for the tournament championship. On this day, Xtreme Pride was not to be denied. By half time, Xtreme Pride had a 5 point lead but the Thunder remained a threat throughout. With a final one point lead, Xtreme Pride walked away with the 1st place finish (47-46) and 3rd tournament championship of the team’s inaugural season.

2011 BCWB Spring Challenge Regional Tournament of Champions - Frederick, MD

  April 9-10, 2011

The first tournament out of the gate for the newly formed Loudoun Xtreme – Force team took place at the BCWB AAU Spring Challenge in Frederick, MD, on April 9th and 10th.  On Saturday, the Xtreme - Force team ended the day 2-1, including 2 wins against the Netmasters from Frederick, MD, and a 1 point loss to Montgomery County (MD) Select after a hard fought comeback from a 15 point deficit.  On Sunday, the Xtreme – Force team met the Montgomery County Select team again in the Semi-finals.  The Xtreme shook off the loss from the previous day and came out ready to play.  With great  team work, smart play and good defense the Xtreme advanced to the Championship game with a convincing 30 – 17 victory.  The Championship game was a constant back and forth battle of wills against the well-known and tough competitor the VYB Barons (Ashburn, VA).  With the Barons holding a 2 point lead after converting the second of 2 free throws, the Xtreme in-bounded the ball with 9.2 seconds remaining on the clock.  The Xtreme brought the ball down court determined not to lose the game.  The two guards passed the ball back and forth trying to get an open shot.  With the clock winding down, the Xtreme got the opening they were looking for.  With about one second left on the clock, the shot goes up from behind the three point line and as the buzzer sounds the ball swishes through the net for a 32 - 31 Xtreme - Force win.

2011 East Coast Battle of the Best - 12U Division 1 Champions

Loudoun Xtreme Pride - 12U/6th
2011 East Coast Battle of the Best - Farifax, VA
  12U Division 1 - Champions
   March 19-20, 2011

A great weekend of basketball was had by all at The Battle of the Best tournament sponsored by Fairfax Stars. The battle began in the first game with Beyond The Hoop as the Loudoun Xtreme National Team took them to the Hoop with a 46-36 finish. Saturday evening the real war began as we battled to the bitter end with VA Warriors  (from Roanoke, VA) who took us down with a 6 point lead (32-26).  With a good night’s sleep, some powerful visualization efforts, and some great coaching, Loudoun Xtreme barreled almost effortlessly through the final day as they took Arlington Thunder in the 3rd match-up (55-38). But Loudoun Xtreme definitely saved the best for last when they moved us to the big court in the main gym for the finals with the Fairfax Stars. In the first quarter alone Xtreme had the Fairfax Stars 21-10. Defense was the word of the day along with some great shooting on the part of the entire team! Loudoun Xtreme was on their defensive game without a doubt against some of the best shooters in the area. They shook them to the core with some quick feet and arms held high all through the game which left many of their 3 point shots in the dust. At one point, Loudoun Xtreme had a 23 point lead (3rd quarter: 46-23). The Fairfax Stars battled hard in the 4th, but to no avail. Loudoun Xtreme earned the ‘Battle of The Best’ winner’s trophy  TOGETHER with a final score of 53-42.
