LSLL Annual Meeting and Call for Nominations

As we wrap up the Fall 2009 season, it is time once again to start planning for the future.  As required by our League Charter, Loudoun South Little League will be conducting its Annual Meeting and Election of Officers for the 2010 Season on Tuesday, November 10, at 7pm, at the

    South Riding Golf Club
    43237 Golf View Drive
    South Riding, VA 20152

Outgoing President Brian Able will provide a recap of 2009, including league finances and current capital improvement plans.  All LSLL league members including parents, players, managers, and coaches are invited to attend.

The final order of business for the outgoing Board of Directors will be to conduct the election of Officers for the 2010 season.  LSLL is issuing a Call for Nominations for the following positions:

    President
    Vice President
    Secretary
    Treasurer
    Player Agent
    Umpire-in-Chief
    Commissioner
    Director-at-Large (5 positions)

Descriptions of the various positions can be found on the LSLL website

As you are probably painfully aware, LSLL experienced a number of challenges this Fall season, including not having enough managers until the last minute and generally not having enough staff to go around.  Loudoun South Little League is an all-volunteer organization.  The LSLL Board of Directors understands that there are disgruntled parents out there who may be unhappy with the processes, procedures, or even general operations of LSLL.  This is your chance to get involved!!  It is only through dedicated volunteers that we can offer the best experience to the children of southeastern Loudoun County.  If you are interested in running for one of the above positions, or would like to nominate someone on their behalf, please fill out and return the Nomination Form, available for download from our website at http://www.eteamz.com/Loudounsouthlittleleague/files/2010LSLLBODNominationForm_distributed.pdf.
The Nomination Form may be completed and submitted electronically using Adobe Acrobat. If needed, you can download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/.

Time dedicated to Board positions vary, but include typically include monthly Board meetings -- or more frequently as necessary, such as at the start of the Spring and Fall seasons.

Nomination forms must be returned to the LSLL Secretary no later than November 3, 2010.  Forms can be e-mailed to the league Secretary at secretary@loudounsouthlittleleague.org.

In addition to elected positions, there are many additional and important volunteer positions that need to be filled on a continuing basis, including:

    Fundraising Coordinator
    Field Maintenance Coordinator
    Uniforms Coordinator
    Sponsorship Coordinator
    Safety Officer
    Pictures/Trophies Coordinator
Division Player Agents (Majors, AAA, AA, A, Rookie, T-Ball)
    Managers
    Coaches
    Umpires

Even if you're not interested in a Board position, please consider filling one or more of the above roles to help us keep up with our ever-growing league.  Interest in volunteering can also be relayed to the LSLL Secretary at secretary@loudounsouthlittleleague.org.

All LSLL Voting Members, as defined by the League Constitution, are eligible to vote for Board of Directors members at the Annual Meeting.  Voting members include the current Board of Directors, Player Agents, and Team Managers for the Spring 2009 and Fall 2009 seasons.  Any other registered league member may also petition the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting to become a Voting Member.  It is vitally important that all Voting Member plan to be in attendance at the Annual Meeting so that a quorum can be reached to conduct official league business and elect the slate of new Officers.

Again, please remember that LSLL is an all-volunteer organization.  The dedicated men and women charged with running the league and ensuring a quality program for our kids are folks just like you.  They have jobs, kids of their own, bills to pay, places to be, things to do, and the stresses of everyday life.  They've set aside a part of their lives for helping organize our part of Little League Baseball — the largest organized sports program in the world.  If you've got desire and a vision for where you think LSLL is going or needs to be, and how you can help to get us there, now is your chance to step up!  Volunteer for a Board of Directors position or other volunteer slot!

We know we can do better and that this league will improve, but only if we have the active assistance of more volunteers and participants.

Thank you and we hope to see you at the Annual Meeting.

Sincerely,

Brian Able, President
and the entire Loudoun South Little League Board of Directors
