RECORDS SET AT WOODBRIDGE Both boys and girls school records fell Saturday night for team times! The senior boys ran to a 4th place finish out of 26 schools in Division I to secure a team plaque. Freshman Chris Delgado, 9th in the 9th grade race, joins seniors Scott Harris, Patrick Anderson, Chris Pasma and Grant Mackay in setting the overall team time record of 81:59. The girls, running mixed grade levels in the varsity race, turned many heads with their 3rd place finish. Brianna Bentley, setting a school record for the Woodbridge course, led the way along with freshman Anya Watford, who would have been a runaway winner in the 9th grade race. Ashley Daniels, Melissa Edwards and Brianna Mercado, along with Bentley and Watford, set a new school record for team time as well, running 95:57. Thanks to all the parents and families who endured a long evening and a late arrival back at school. Your support is greatly appreciated! STRONG SHOWING AT RIM The team travelled to Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead to compete in the Rim Run against 15 other schools. The girls race was a two team showdown between the Grizzlies and Serrano High School, currently ranked #6 in CIF Div. II. The girls ran very strong but missed the title by four points on varsity and three points on JV. The third place teams were about 70 points behind us. The boys teams divided their forces, pulling three varsity runners onto the frosh/soph team. Varsity still managed a fifth place finish, while the frosh/soph team brought home the title! Thanks to the team for conducting themselves with class and character, it was very nice of the Chaffey coach to address our team and tell them exactly that. Thanks also to the parents that attended and supported the team...your dedication in getting your kids to practice this summer has led to early success.

SPECTACULAR DAY AT GUASTI!!! The team put together their finest performance thus far in the Baseline League Meet #2 held at Guasti Park. With all six league teams present, the Grizzlies finished 1st or 2nd in all four races. The girls JV topped Upland by five points to take first, and the boys JV defeated all teams except Upland for second place. In the Varsity Girls race, the Lady Grizzlies avenged the loss to Upland at Red Hill, with an eight point victory. The boys upset Etiwanda to finish second overall. MT. SAC RESULTS The team got it's first taste of the Mt. Sac course this season under perfect running conditions...overcast, no wind and less dust. The boys, led by the 10th fastest performer of the weekend, Scott Harris, finished 12th in the Individual Sweepstakes race. Scott's 15:03 served notice that he is ready for the postseason. The girls varsity, in a very loaded field, finished 10th, beating some Top 15 schools and missing the highly regarded team from Ventura by just one point. Freshman Anya Watford led the way with the number 2 time in school history at 19:26. While no varsity positions changed hands, the competition for those spots did heat up as 6 boys were within 30 seconds of the #7 position and 2 girls were just off the #7 time! Close Call at CIF Prelims
The boys team faced a warm-up on Saturday that affected everyone running in the heat of the day. They came in seeded 10th in their heat, and managed to move up to 7th, but it wasn't enough to continue the season. Scott Harris advances as an individual as he was an easy winner in the race. 1. Harris - 15:32 49. Anderson - 17:07 53. G.Mackay - 17:15 56. C.Pasma - 17:17 63. Valencia - 17:25 64. Walden - 17:27 69. Delgado - 17:33
The girls ran closer to 4:00 and the heat had died down to some extent. Seeded 6th in the race, a top-3 finish would guarantee a Finals berth and a 4th place finish would give them a shot. The girls ran well and upset Esperanza and Quartz Hill to grab the 4th spot. With 4 Division I girls races, they compare the four 4th place finishers and take the two with the best team times. After waiting, the Grizzlies were edged out by 16 seconds. Great effort. 9. Watford - 19:15 19. Bentley - 19:46 23. M.Edwards- 19:53 27. Mercado - 19:57 35. A.Edwards- 20:16 41. Daniels - 20:31 49. SCOTT HARRIS GOES TO FRESNO Scott closed out his high school career with a return trip to the State Championships in Fresno. At Mt. SAC on Nov. 19th, Scott finished 4th overall in Division 1 to secure a spot in the state meet. He ran 15:10. In Fresno, in breezy/cool conditions, Scott improved on last year by breaking into the 15's. He finished 15th in Division 1 in 15:48. Good work!
