Monday, April 25 MAY NEWS AND NOTES!!! Physicals: All participants in sports must complete the physical packet, including visiting a doctor for a physical exam. If you missed the physicals at school, then you will need to get one on your own. Please pick up the athletic packet from the front office at school before going to the doctor. Once the packet is complete, please do NOT drop it off at school. Instead, hang on to it until the parent meeting or the first practice with coaches that you attend. Summer Practice: For your planning purposes, the first official day of practice this summer with coaches will be Friday, July 20th. Captains will be holding captains practices throughout the summer. They are optional and no coaches will be present, but they can be a great source for motivation and a great transition into high school for incoming freshmen. They can also provide a gauge as to where you are at and what kind of work you need to put in. Paperwork: You will not be allowed to participate in official practices (July 20th and later) until physical paperwork is completed, nor will those practices count as attended practices. Logging Miles: You must log miles for cross country. Miles towards 500 Mile Club begin on May 21st. It's not only required but it's a great way of seeing progress and motivating yourself. Register now if you do not already have an account. You need to "Join A Team" for us to see your activity. Directions are below:

MEET THE 2012 CAPTAINS!!! The captains have been selected for the 2012 season and we are looking for them to provide informal practices to give athletes an opportunity to train together this summer. In addition, we hope that they motivate athletes to fulfill their potential as well as provide a welcoming environment for our newcomers. Congratulations to them and look for bios later this summer. Friday, May 11 TRAINING CALENDAR POSTED!!! Much of the spring/summer training will be done individually. Finding that motivation, especially in the heat of the summer, can be difficult. What exactly should you be doing? How far should you be running? How often should you be running? The off-season training calendar is posted in the "Handouts" section and will answer those questions. Please be aware that over-doing can be as bad as not doing enough. |
