Pasta Party Notes for Host/Hostess
Plan for at least 80 kids.  Check the school calendar.  If there is a dance or football game, fewer will come and many who come will show up and clear out early. The host family or families usually provide the pasta, sauce, and paper goods.  The key is to not turn down any help offered.  If someone offers to come and help but you think you don’t need any more help, ask them to bring plates, forks, napkins, a crockpot, cooked pasta, ice, or extra water instead.
PastaPlan on about 18 pounds.  Big chunky stuff works best.  Cook it ahead of time, put it in Ziploc bags and reheat it briefly in boiling water before serving.  (Keep a big pot of water hot on the stove).
SauceTry to offer: --meat sauce (or meatballs)  (about 8-9 large jars)--meatless red sauce (about 7 large jars)--non-tomato (Alfredo or pesto -- about 5-6 cups of sauce)--plain with butter (enough for 1-2 pounds pasta) Chafing dishes or crockpots work well to keep everything hot.  Also nice to have a container of parmesan cheese to offer, especially for the buttered pasta.
BreadUsually provided by other parents.  You can’t have too much bread.  15-16 loaves of garlic bread already sliced in the foil bags work well, as you can keep it warm in the oven.  Those little rolls from Costco are great, too.  You’ll probably want to have a tub of butter for the rolls.
SaladUsually provided by other parents.  Need 3 large salads and one bottle of dressing each.  If you put the dressing on and toss it, the lines will go faster.

DrinksUsually provided by other parents.  Should be water.  At least 5 cases, more if it’s a hot day.  Leftovers can always go to the meet the next day.  Have coolers with ice for them to go into.
Paper Goods100 napkins125 forks100 plates
Tipsn      figure out an efficient path for the food buffet line.n      keep as much as possible outside – especially the trash and ice chests.n      have recycling tubs available for water bottlesn      have extra beach towels handy; you may want to cover the floor at the house entrance closest to the pooln      station an adult at the pooln      every time a kid thanks you or says goodbye, ask if he has everything he brought.  Take lost and found items to the meet the next day.n      don’t be shy about asking kids to clean up after themselves – have plenty of trash bags availablen      have fun!  It’s a great chance to see all the kids when they’re not all sweaty!

Pasta Party Donations

Please bring your contribution to the party no later than 6:00 pm. Water can even be dropped off earlier in the day – check with the Host/Hostess.

BreadPlease bring 4 loaves of SLICED garlic bread wrapped in foil (you can buy it this way at the grocery store) or 2 bags of those Costco dinner rolls. If you bring rolls, please bring a small tub of spreadable butter to go with them. You can’t have too much bread.

SaladBring one VERY LARGE green salad in a serving bowl and a bottle of dressing to go with it.  Put your name on the bottom of the bowl and have your athlete bring it home at the end of the party

DrinksBring one case of at least 24 bottles.  If you can bring them in an ice chest, that’s even better.  Put your name on the ice chest and have your athlete bring it home at the end of the party.   Any leftover bottles can always go to the meet the next day.
