Los Altos & Los Altos Hills Little League (Bay Area): Baseball - Spring 2019

Baseball - Spring 2019

When registering for the spring season, please select the division that you feel is appropriate for your player
based on the information on this page.
We encourage everyone to register early using our online registration - payments made online will be charged to your credit card.  However, if you need to pay by check, please come to the check-in table during one of the player evaluation sessions listed below.

Our league boundaries include most of Los Altos and all of Los Altos Hills.  Please see our boundary map for details. We also register players who live outside our official boundaries but who attend schools located within our boundaries.

Our Little League is skills-based — the age ranges shown below for each division can be used as a guideline, but we try to group players with similar abilities together in the same division. Strong, experienced players might “play up”, while less experienced players might “play down”. For example, a strong 7 year old player might play in the same division as a less experienced 9 year old player.

The age ranges in the table are based on “Little League Age" which is defined by Little League International as the player’s actual age on August 31, 2019.

Players registered for Minors AA, Minors AAA, and Majors (except returning Majors players) MUST ATTEND a player evaluation appropriate for their registered division. Players not selected during the draft for their registered division will be moved down to the next lower division.

Players registered for Juniors are assigned to teams by the Juniors Commissioner to balance teams for talent.  All players registered for Juniors are assigned to Juniors teams.

Please see below for more detailed information about each division.

T-Ball (Baseball)
T-Ball is our introductory division and requires no prior baseball experience. T-Ball is appropriate for children ages 5-6, and 7 year olds who have never played organized baseball. T-Ball players should reach age 5 by August 31, 2019. Most T-Ball players are in kindergarten, but there are many first-graders as well as as some older pre-schoolers. Girls are welcome, although most girls choose to play in our Girls T-Ball program. Some younger T-Ball players will choose to play a second year of T-Ball before moving on to Minors A.

Each team meets for one hour twice per week, once mid-week for practice (typically M,T,W,Th, or F from 5-6pm, with day and exact times at the coach’s discretion) and once on Saturday morning for a game. Practices emphasize throwing, hitting, and fielding fundamentals in a fun and safe environment. Games are 3 innings long, with all players batting once per inning and playing in the field. The season begins with batting from a tee and progresses to soft-toss coach pitching.

Players are assigned to teams by the T-Ball Commissioner, and will be contacted by their coaches in early March for first practices. The season ends by the first week in June. If your player would like to be on a team with friends, please list the names of the friends in the “buddy” field during registration. As much as possible, the commissioner will group players with buddies and other children from the same school together when assigning players to teams.

Minors A (Baseball)
Minors A is appropriate for children ages 6-7 who have played T-Ball for at least one year and children age 8 who have not previously played organized baseball or are not drafted to play Minors AA. Most Minors A players are in first or second grade. Girls are welcome, although most girls choose to play in our Girls Softball program.

Players are assigned to teams by the Minors A Commissioner, and will be contacted by their coaches in early March for first practices. The season ends by the first week in June. If your player would like to be on a team with friends, please list the names of the friends in the “buddy” field during registration. As much as possible, the commissioner will group players with buddies and other children from the same school together when assigning players to teams.

Minors A uses a pitching machine (30 mph) for practices and games. Coaches will rotate players through each of the defensive positions in the field. Each team will meet twice per week for 90 minute practices or games – once mid-week (the week-day varies as some mid-week sessions are games) and once on Saturday morning.

Minors AA (Baseball)
