  Welcome

Intro
The Longpoint Swim Team, known as the SAILFISH, was formed in 1992 by a group of neighborhood, volunteer parents. In its first year, the team scored one victory. The SAILFISH rapidly progressed in skill and commitment and for a long period after 1996 was ranked in the first division (red) in the CCAA. Other teams have since entered the league and caught up so that now the SAILFISH compete at the top of a very strong second division - hopefully we will return to the first division in the near future.

The Longpoint Swim Team strives to provide a fun, friendly, family centered activity that serves as an introduction to competitive swimming. While winning is important, we believe it is more important for children to enjoy the sport of swimming and to feel like a welcome member of our team. To that end, we will focus during the regular season on giving all our swimmers the opportunity to swim at the meets.

The City Meet Championship (held after the regular season is over) is the only meet in which swimmers must be selected to participate. Participation in this meet is based on fastest times in events and is determined by the coaching staff. It is an honor and a responsibility for the swimmer to represent Longpoint at this championship meet.

Summer league swimming at Longpoint brings parents and children together working for the team and each other. In keeping with our philosophy, parent volunteering is a requirement. There are many jobs that must be done in order to participate in league swimming. Without the sweat equity contribution of each family, there would be no Longpoint Sailfish.
