Camp opens, welcome rookies.
Lindenhurst, NY- February 19th, 2011 THE Long Island Hurricanes opened cam at 11am at Venetian Shores Park. "The core of guys that wowed the tri-state semi-professional football landscape last year are back, with plenty of fresh faces from the area working out for our summer season." Head Coach Steve Schaffer said. "We have a very bad taste in our mouths from last year. While what we accomplished as a first year team was nothing short of encouraging, we're collectively getting sick of hearing the "You were in every game" style of pleasentries. We want to be at Avaitor Sports Complex this year raising a trophy, anything less and I don't think these guys will be able to sleep the following off-season."
One thinking these strong words might be to gaudy for a second year team with a first year head coach obviously don't know Schaffer or his intensity. "We've been working our fingers to the bone from the day we opened camp 40 plus strong. We're still adding players and the ones that don't want to work, won't be in green and black this summer, simple as that."
Stay tuned to the site news for the forthcoming schedule of pre-season events and games.
