Molloy inks Alexander to National Letter of Intent

Lauren Alexander
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Nov. 30, 2009) - Head Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke (Hicksville, N.Y.) of the Molloy College softball squad recently announced the signings of Nicolette Sinagra (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Lauren Alexander (Huntington, N.Y.) to National Letters of Intent starting in the 2011 season. Sinagra was referred to as one of the best softball players in New York City that few have heard of by Five Boro Sports, while Alexander was dubbed as an All-County honoree following her junior campaign.

In addition to her All-County praise, Alexander has been selected to both All-Conference and All-League teams. She has also played for a top travel squad in the Long Island Heat. In addition, Alexander can play almost any position, and sports great agility anywhere in the field. "Lauren is very aggressive and smooth. She will be able to help us out in the middle infield and the outfield," Cassidy-Lyke said. "Her bat also has great pop."

C.W. Post inks Hagenah to National Letter of Intent for Class of 2014

Nicole Hagenah
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 25, 2009)C.W. Post head softball coach Jamie Apicella announced five players that have signed National Letters of Intent. Brittany Agostini (Middletown, Del./Middletown), Carly Chamberlain (Nesco, N.J./Oakrest), Jessica Julich (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), Andrea Smith (Milford, Mass./Milford) and Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y./Commack) will play for the Pioneers beginning in the 2010-11 academic year.

Apicella on Hagenah: “Nicole has great size and athleticism. She is a leader on the field and has great passion for the game. She is a great student in the classroom.  She is a true utility player who can play most positions in the infield. That versatility is a real bonus and she could play catcher, second, first or even third base for us because she has a great arm. She knows the game, has a good presence defensively wherever she plays, and is a line-drive, gap type of hitter.”

Hagenah is a run producer and is projected to hit in the middle of the lineup. She was voted the League II Player of the Year and was also selected First Team All-Long Island and Third Team All-State. Hagenah received the distinction of NFCA Regional All-American while playing at Commack. She has quality summer ball experience with the Long Island Heat.
