Hard work, long hours hosting tournaments pay off for League!
June 11 & 12, and July 2, 3 & 4, 2005 - Two Tournaments that were SUPER and EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL! President Barry; UIC/CFO Larry and Player Agent Lisa took charge and stayed when others couldn't, and worked morning till night to make it happen!
Enough cannnot be said about their unselfishness and loyalty to this League, keeping the costs to play here at a minimum, with no fundraiser so that players of all skill levels can afford to play softball in a fun and safe environment.
SEVERAL OTHERS spent time helping out as well, cooking, shopping, field work, snack bar and cleaning, cleaning cleaning!
You all know who you are - so I'm sorry if I forget to name you - BUT THANK YOU, THANK YOU to each and every one of you who volunteered your time! Cathy Walker, Melissa Vega, Kayci, Todd, Manny, Tommy, Bernard & Vivian, Tina Hollowood, Chris Burke & Cadie, TNT, Dave Warren & Nicole (more names will be added when an entire list is verified)
Tournament 1 - Made $1215.32 after expenses!
Tournament 2 - Made $2165.52 after expenses!
This brings our finances from basically nothing at the end of the season to a reasonable start up for Winterball.
*This is very important to know, and the reason why is the over $4000.00 that had to be paid for umpires during the season. Usually this is no problem because selling from the snack bar has always paid the umpire fees. NO UMPIRES, NO GAMES! It does not matter if the Building is open or if you have to pull out the tables and sell from them, it is the obligation AND a requirement from each parent of a player in the League to work selling snacks. Not having the building open just sounds like an excuse for not wanting to do what you COMMITTED to do when you signed up your player. If you did not work at one of the tournaments, you should thank someone who did the next time you see them. They worked your shift.
Looking forward, we have better accountability and controls in place to ensure either the Snack Bar Shift is worked or $40.00 will be in the League account to defray the Umpire fees.
Once again, a big thank you to all who worked to make these tournaments successful.
