The First Site of the Long Beach Girls Fastpitch ASA Youth Softball League in Long Beach!
The Long Beach Girls Fastpitch ASA Youth Softball League formed in 1997. With no ASA league in Long Beach, we needed another option to Bobbysox or Little League.
The City of Long Beach & Sports Office; Phil Hester; Jackie Kell; George and Rudy plus other key people saw our vision. The first few years were trying - borrowing fields and equipment. Using Chittick; Cherry; Whaley; Wardlow; Pan Am and El Dorado fields for ANY time that was free for our girls to practice and play. Hauling a donated trailer to each field with the equipment. The players who came to the league during those years had a burning desire to play better competition. These girls are very quality players today. Each player wore the same uniform - (Black Shorts, White Sleeveless Jersey) but had a different number. The girls did not care. They only wanted to play. They even wore those uniforms once we participated in All Star Tournaments, but did get a bat bag or sweatshirt.
Forever thankful to Ralph & Linda Vizcarra; Linda Berger; Kim & Claire Nikoletich; Tony Ponce & family; Larry Walker & family; Jody Bundy; Chris Burke; Gary Eddington; Howard & Nancy Morlock; of course Barry for going to all the City Meetings and SO MANY OTHERS I AM TRULY SORRY you were not named here. Youar names will be added.
We provided Long Beach Girls age 7 - 18 the opportunity to play on quality teams, interleague with local ASA teams & play in tournaments.
Also, Low Cost T-Ball for Boys & Girls ages 6 and under.
RECREATIONAL - Every child played in each of their games!
All board members and staff were volunteers, and work very hard to provide a great league for the kids to play in year round.
Unfortunately the Non Profit Status change did not occur during 2006, and a good League Board of Directors & volunteers worked Spring; All Stars; Winterball & Tournament to ensure your player is provided with the best instruction.
The original Tax ID number was 95-4646515. Please do not use that number, as it is no good for any tax deductions for sponsors, donations etc.
2007 is the NEW Leagues first year with complete control. They should have their own Tax ID number by now.
