SOX WIN BEAUMONT FOR 4TH YEAR IN A ROW IN 15-9 WIN OVER COYOTES
Larry Selfin hits .429 makes 1st team all tourney
Jason Obregon hits .500 with 2 HR and 4 RBI and 6 runs
The Long Beach Black Sox put up 14 runs in the first 2 innings and held off a furious Beaumont Coyote rally and held on for a 15-9 victory. Jerome Morrison in relief of Randy Clay got the win. Morrison came in the 2nd inning after Beaumont scored 7 off Clay. Morrison held Beaumont to 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings. The Sox pounded out 3 home runs in the win. Jason Obregon led off the game with a home run and Fred Hanker followed with another home run making the score 2-0 after 1 inning. In the 2nd inning the Sox scored 12 runs a new team record for runs in an inning. The inning started with a Corey Angel single and a Ron Rupp home run making the score 4-0. Jason Obregon walked and Fred Hanker doubled him in. Joe Janecki followed with a RBI single. Jerome Morrison was hit by a pitch driving in a run. Corey Angel singled in another run and Ron Rupp singled in another Sox player. Jason Obregon followed with a RBI single and Fred Hanker followed with a RBI double. Joe Janecki ended the carnage with a RBI single. The Sox had 4 players with 2 hits in an inning a new Sox record. Fred Hanker, Joe Janecki, Corey Angel and Ron Rupp each had 2 hits in the inning. Beaumont charged back in the 2nd inning scoring 7 runs on 2 home runs and knocking out Randy Clay. Jerome Morrison came in for Long Beach and stopped the rally allowing only 2 runs the rest of the way. Long Beach wins their 28th tournament ever and improve to 16-0 at Beaumont winning their 4th tournament in a row. The Sox scored 38 runs in 4 games and 9 stolen bases to go with 9 home runs and a .432 average all team records. They also had a .470 on base percentage and a .737 slugging percentage both team records. In a notorius hitting park Sox pitchers allowed only 15 earned runs in 4 games and a combined 4.20 ERA.

OBREGON GOES 3-4 IN WIN Randy Clay threw a complete game win over the host Beaumont Coyotes allowing only 7 hits and 2 earned runs. Joe Janecki and Jason Obregon homered to lead the Sox to victory. Long Beach fell behind 2-1 after 4 innings. They scored there 1 run in the second on a Jerome Morrison single and a Larry Selfin RBI double. With the score 2-1 into the top of the 5th Corey Angel singled and stole second. Carlos Romero sacrificed him to third. Jason Obregon doubled in Angel tying the game at 2. Joe Janecki than hit a clutch 2 run home run making the score 4-2 Long Beach. Beaumont scored 2 in the 6th making the score 4-4 into the 7th. Jason Obregon hit a leadoff home run making the score 5-4 into the bottom of the 7th. Randy Clay induced a double play ball ending the inning and securing the win for Long Beach advancing them to the finals. Jason Obregon was 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBI and 2 runs. Joe Janecki was 1-3 with a 2 run home run. Jerome Morrison was 3-4 with a run scored. Larry Selfin added a 3-3 day with a RBI.

Dave Demaio continued his long ball power display slugging 2 home runs and driving in 6 and scoring 3 runs in the Sox 15-6 win. Randy Clay went the distance for his 2nd win of the tourney going 2-0. Jerome Morrison hit a grand slam home run in the second and also singled. Fred Hanker in the leadoff spot was 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Corey Angel added a 3-3 day with 3 runs and 3 stolen bases. Joe Janicke was 2-4 with 3 runs scored and a RBI. The Sox scored 3 in the first highlighted by a Dave Demaio 2 run home run. They would explode for 7 in the second highlighted by a Jerome Morrison grand slam. In the 3rd they tacked on 3 when Dave Demaio hit his second home run of the game and 3rd of the tourney. The Sox advance to the winners bracket final against The Beaumont Coyotes.
DEMAIO AND CLAY LEAD SOX TO 8-2 WIN IN 1ST GAME AT BEAUMONT
Randy Clay threw 4 shutout and no hit ball innings and Dave Demaio was 3-3 with a HR, 2 runs and 2 RBI to lead Long Beach to a 8-2 win. Fred Hanker was also 2-3 with a RBI in the win. The Sox scored 5 in the 2nd inning to put the game away. Dave Demaio singled in the second and reached second base on an error. Jerome Morrison singled in Demaio and went to second on the throw home. Larry Selfin followed with a RBI single. Ron Rupp walked and Carlos Romero followed with a sac fly. Fred Hanker than singled with 2 outs scoring Rupp and Angel. In the third Joe Janicki walked and scored on a Dave Demaio double. In the 5th Fred Hanker singled and stole second and scored on a Joe Janicki sac fly. Dave Demaio followed with a long solo home run to left making the score 8-2. The Sox play versus The Aztecs at 5 PM.

The Long Beach Black Sox avenged an earlier loss in a previous tournament to Jeremy "The Rhino" Rogers and The Colton Dirt Bags as they hung on for a 12-9 win. Randy Clay picked up the complete game victory. The Sox pounded out 10 hits in route to the win. The Sox struck early as they often do scoring in the first inning. Todd Budke walked and Chris Minogue singled with 2 outs scoring Budke. Chris Paiva followed with a RBI double making the score 2-0.The Dirtbags also scored 2 in the first making the score 2-2 after 1 inning. In the 2nd Kasey Shaw singled with 2 outs and scored on a Todd Budke single. The Dirtbags took a 5-2 lead after 2 innings than the Sox took over. In the 3rd Matt Shaw singled and Chris Minogue doubled in Shaw. Three consecutive walks by Chris Paiva, Ron Rupp and Doug Shaw plated another run as Shaw got the RBI. Chris Martinez walked driving in another run. Todd Budke followed with a 3 run double. Fred Hanker also doubled in Budke. Matt Shaw rounded out the scoring with a RBI single. The Sox score 9 in the inning and take a 12-6 lead after 4 innings. In the 4th and 5th The Dirtbags made it close but the Sox hold on for 12-9 win. Todd Budke was 2-3 with 2 runs and 4 RBI. SOX KNOCKED OUT OF PRIMETIME WITH 8-0 LOSS
Mitch Mendenhall shutout The Long Beach Black Sox on 7 hits as Primetime cruised to a 8-0 win. Dave Blackburn took the loss for Long Beach. Todd Budke once again pitched well in relief for Long Beach going 5 innings and allowing 1 run. Jason Obregon and Chris Minogue had 2 hits in the Sox loss. Primetime scored 3 in the first and 3 in the third to put the game away. Former Sox players Tim and Chris Hunt led the attack. Tim Hunt hit a home run in the first. Erick Geirman also had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Tim Hunt had 3 hits and Chris had 2 hits. Long Beach plays at 2:15.

The Long Beach Black Sox were shutout for the second consecutive game as they fell to Rude Pac 2-0. Gerald Pyle went the distance as he got the best of Sox ace Ron Rupp. Pyle allowed only 3 hits in the complete game win. Rupp also pitched well in the loss allowing only 1 earned run. The Long Beach Black Sox scored a run in the 2nd inning breaking their 14 innings scoreless streak in route to a come from behind 7-4 win. Ron Rupp got the win in relief of Todd Budke. Budke threw 4 solid innings allowing only 3 runs. Rupp finished up the final 3 innings allowing 1 run. The Sox would score 5 in the top of the 7th to take the win. Long Beach held a early lead in the 2nd when with 2 outs Ron Rupp doubled and scored on a Doug Shaw RBI triple. In the 3rd Jason Obregon singled and scored on a Todd Budke RBI double making the score 2-0 after 2 innings. In the Flor de Cana 5th Joe Janicke doubled and Mike Thomas singled him in. Mario Ramirez doubled in Thomas. Eric Smalling singled in Ramirez making the score 3-2 Flor de Cana and knocking out Budke. Rupp stopped any further damage. In the 7th with the Sox trailing 3-2 Ron Rupp walked and Doug Shaw singled. Ken Shaw was hit with a pitch loading the bases. Chris Martinez singled scoring Rupp. Jason Obregon singled scoring Shaw. Dave Blackburn threw 3 shutout innings and got 12 runs of offensive support in the Sox 12-4 win over The Caribbean. Todd Budke homered in the 1st to lead the Sox attack. In the 2nd Chris Paiva and Ron Rupp singled and both scored on errors making the score 3-0 after 2. In the 3rd Fred Hanker doubled and Todd Budke walked. Chris Minogue singled in Hanker and Matt Shaw walked. Chris Paiva had a 2 run single. The other runs scored on errors. In the 5th Matt Shaw doubled and scored on a Chris Paiva triple making the final score 12-4. Chris Minogue continued his hot hitting going 2-3 with a run and RBI. Fred Hanker and Todd Budke went 4-4 and Ron Rupp allowed only 2 runs in a complete game victory as Long Beach won 9-4 and advanced to the championship game in Santa Fe Springs 3. Todd Budke hit a 3 run home run in the first to give the Sox a early 3 run lead and they never looked back. Budke would drive in 4 and Hanker would drive in 2. Combined Hanker and Budke would go 8-8 with 6 RBI and 4 runs scored off Panteras pitchers Billy Montana and Spud Barker. Chris Minogue added to the big 3 with 2 triples and 2 runs scored. The Sox big 4 of Jason Obregon, Fred Hanker, Todd Budke and Chris Minogue went 12-16 with 7 runs and 8 RBI. The Sox struck early again when in the first Jason Obregon singled as did Fred Hanker. Todd Budke than launched a 3 run home run to center making the score 3-0. Chris Minogue tripled and scored on a Matt Shaw single. In the 2nd Ken Shaw walked and with 2 outs scored on a Fred Hanker RBI double. Todd Budke followed with a RBI single scoring Hanker making the score 6-1. The final score would be 9-2. The Sox defeated Primetime 8-4 in the final game as Ron Rupp went the distance winning his second game in a row on Sunday. Fred Hanker hit a 3 run home run in the second inning off Mitch Mendenhall and the Sox never looked back. The Sox struck early in the first inning when with 2 outs Todd Budke singled and Chris Minogue folowed with a single. Matt Shaw singled in Budke and Chris Paiva doubled in Minogue making the score 2-0 after a half inning. In the Primetime first Eric Geirman singled and ex Sox Tim Hunt hit a homerun to right making the score 2-2 after 1 inning. In the Sox 2nd inning Doug Shaw singled as did Chris Martinez. Jason Obregon singled in Shaw and Fred Hanker than hit the first pitch to deep left field for a 3 run homerun making the score 6-2 after 2 innings. In the Sox 3rd Chris Paiva singled as did Ron Rupp. Doug Shaw got a RBI groundout making the score 7-2 going into the bottom of the 3rd. In the Primetime 3rd Jon Simmers and Joe Nuanez reached on errors. Jaime Nunez singled in Simmers and Tim Hunt doubled in Nuanez making the score 7-4 after 4 innings. In the Sox 5th Todd Budke doubled and Chris Minogue doubled in Budke. The Sox now lead 8-4 after 5 innings. Ron Rupp would allow only 3 more hits in the final 3 innings as the Sox hung on for a 8-4 win. Todd Budke was 3-4 with 2 runs and Fred Hanker was 1-4 with a 3 run home run to lead Long Beach to the win.
