Pirates nip the Angels in a 13-12 THRILLER on Tuesday

The Minors season finally came to an end Tuesday Night

as the Pirates nipped the Angels in a 13-12 THRILLER on Field 1.

In front of the biggest crowd for a minors game this year

the Pirates hung on to win. The game was filled with  hits, errors

Strikeouts, doubles, singles, and Home Runs in the Park, and

over the fence. Adon hit one over the centerfield wall.  The pitching was great with

Andrew Resler (Angels) and Tyler Daraban (Pirates). The scoring

was 4-2 Angels at the end of one, 5-4 Pirates at the end of two,

at the end of 3 it was 6-5 Pirates, Pirates 12-5 at the end of 4 innings.

At the end of 5 innings it was  13-10, and in final inning

Gage Fiorentino threw a great pitch, Logan roped it, but right

at Pirates, leftfielder Andrew Snyder who threw a perfect throw

to Pirates third baseman Trevor Glisson for a force out to hang onto

the win 13-12.  Other Noteables: Pirates Drew G was 3 for 4, Nathan W

was 2 for 4, Cody was 2 for 4, CJ was 2 for 4. For the Angels Trey Urban

was 2 for 3, Logan was 2 for 4, Landen was 2 for 3,

Both teams played great !  Both teams put on a great show, and the fans in attendence were treated to a great game. Congratulations to both teams.

Majors Tournament Final Red Sox defeat Rays in an extra inning gem!

It took 8 full innings for the Red Sox to score the first and only run in the Majors championship on Field 1 at Children's Memorial Park.  Quinn Gallagher, the Red Sox starting pitcher, was able to go 6 2/3, striking out 14 and walking only one.  Isaiah Blaylock, the Rays starter, struck out 13 and walked one in 6 innings.  A true pitching duel, both teams played outstanding defense.  Dustin McDonald scored the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning.  Travis Stevens, the Red Sox closer, pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, giving up no hits or runs.  For the fans in attendance, the 2009 championship was a real treat!

Thanks to all who enjoyed the End-of-the-Year BBQ at Lone Mountain on May 30th! The Dunk Tank was a huge success- thanks to all the managers who participated!  The kids had a great deal of fun dunking their coaches and playing in the Jumpy House.  Thanks to all who donated their time in making this a fun event !
