1. What type of league does Linn Mar play in?
We play in a competitive travel league called USSSA. This league is designed more for the competitve baseball player.
2. Who will be coaching my son's team this year?
A dad of one of the players is probably coaching your son. All coaches should have high school experience and some have college.
3. When will practices begin?
Your coach will contact you and set up a team meeting. The team meeting is an apportunity to meet your coaches, players and their parents. The team meeting is also the chance for you to ask any questions you may have.
4. When will League games start and when will the season end?
League games usually begin mid to late April: Your coach will determine your teams start date when he attends the league scheduling meeting. Most teams will finish league play the second week of July.
5. How many games will my sons team play in a season?
The number of games for each team will vary depending on the coaches. Number of games range from 20-50 per season.
6. How many players will be on a team?
There will be anywhere from 10 - 13 players on a team.
7. How will we know when a game is canceled due to inclement weather?
Your coach will contact each family prior to a game being cancelled for any reason.
8. Uniforms?
Team coaches decide on uniforms. Coaches are shown examples from past teams. Typical cost is around $80.00.
9. Where are practices held and games played?
The U8, U9 and U10 teams can schedule practices on the Noelridge Christian Church diamond. The U11, U12 and U13 teams can schedule practices on the Excelsior Middle School diamonds. All teams can schedule practices on any of the Marion Park and Rec diamonds. Regular season games will be played at the Lowe Park, Cedar Rapids park diamonds or in surrounding towns.
10. Is my child required to be enrolled in the Linn Mar district to play for a Linn Mar team?
Your child is NOT required to be enrolled in the Linn Mar district to play on a Linn Mar team. All Linn Mar players are placed on a team first with any additional openings filled by players from inside the district not attending Linn Mar Schools.
