FALL SPORTSLa Entrada's flag football program is open to all students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. There are two teams, organized by grade level, based on the number of students that register from each grade. We will have a 'Varsity Team' comprised of 8th graders and some 7th graders who should play alongside the larger, faster students. Our 'Juniors Team' will be comprised of 6th graders and some 7th graders who should play at that level for safety and fun. The LLL will hold an evaluation day for all 7th graders on September 3rd or 4th. We enter our teams in a recreational league comprised of teams from public and private middle schools in the area. The season begins in September and runs through November. There are generally two practices and one game per week. The schools in the league take turns hosting games throughout the season. PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: While the games are monitored by referrees and coaches and the sport is 'Flag Football', the boys tend to become more physical in their play, especially at the 7th and 8th grade level. INJURIES can occur! If you have any worries about injury, please consider this prior to registering your child for this sport. The LLL does not condone rough play, nor do our coaches, however injuries, while not serious, do occur. Cost for the season: $110 per player. This program cannot exist without the help of parent volunteers. Whether as a coach, team parent, uniform coordinator, etc., please consider volunteering your time in some capacity by contacting our Athletic Director. OUTREACH: Financial assistance is available for these sports. Please contact Erika Lowe at 650.854.3962 ext. 215 or at elowe@llesd.org for more information. The La Entrada Volleyball program is open to girls in the 4th through 8th grades. Teams are based on grade to align with the guidelines of the recreational league run by the Menlo Park Youth Volleyball Program. There will be one game and at least two practices per week as determined by the coach. The season begins in September and runs through November. Games are played at the Burgess Recreation Center against other schools in the area. This program cannot exist without the help of parent volunteers. Whether as a coach, team parent, uniform coordinator, etc., please consider volunteering your time in some capacity by contacting our Athletic Director. Cost for the season: $110 per player. OUTREACH: Financial assistance is available for these sports. Please contact Erika Lowe at 650.854.3962 ext. 215 or at elowe@llesd.org for more information.
The LLL will be sponsoring a Tournament Team of volleyball players for 7th and 8th grade girls only. This team will be in addition to participation with the regular volleyball program with the Burgess League. There will be seperate team and there will be an additional registration payment for those players making the team. The team will be formed via try-outs and determined by an impartial coach associated with the LLL.
Cost for the Season: $110 per player to be collected after selection to the team.
The following practices will be available for those girls wanting to tryout for the tournament team (La Entrada Gym):
Thursday August 20th, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Tuesday August 25th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday August 27th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday September 1st, 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday September 3rd, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
The tryout will be at the La Entrada Gym on: Tuesday September 8th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Final selection of players will be announced shortly after the tryouts on September 8.
WINTER SPORTSThe La Entrada basketball program is open to all students in 3rd to 8th grades only. All children registered to play will be placed on a team, guaranteed. The 'evaluations' are strictly to split up each grade level into 'fair and balanced' teams as mandated by the Burgess League. LLL information about team selection, practices, game days, uniforms:
More information: We enter our 3rd to 7th grade teams in a recreational league run by the City of Menlo Park Recreation Department, known as the “Burgess League.” Games are played from December through March in either Burgess Gym, La Entrada Gym or the Onetta Harris Recreation Center. We enter our 8th grade teams in a recreational league run by the Mid-Peninsula Middle School League (MPMSL). This league was formed by the middle school Athletic Directors to help reduce the load on the Burgess League, which is stretched for playing time/space by the enormous number of teams that want to participate. The MPMSL operates under the same philosophies as the Burgess League. These programs cannot exist without the help of parent volunteers. Whether as a coach, team parent, uniform coordinator, etc., please consider volunteering your time in some capacity by contacting our Athletic Director. Cost for the season: $110 per player including uniforms - jerseys and shorts, games, coaching and referrees. OUTREACH: Financial assistance is available for these sports. Please contact Erika Lowe at 650.854.3962 ext. 215 or at elowe@llesd.org for more information.

Based on court and coach availability, we will also accept additional players for a “junior varsity” team. All players will practice regularly and play some matches during the season. PRACTICE: The team will practice approximately 2 afternoons a week La Entrada (other courts may be used if we can secure them). Days and times are TBD. MATCHES: Matches are traditionally played on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30 until around 5:30, starting mid-March and ending mid-May. The team will play home (hopefully Woodside High School) and away matches against Castilleja, Corte Madera, Crystal Springs, St. Joseph’s, Menlo School, Woodside Elementary, and Woodside Priory.
