They perform, memorize lyrics, learn movement, hand motions and/or sign language for songs, and above all, have fun with music! Kindergartners are encouraged to join and participate at their individual level of development; they are not required to do any more or less than what feels comfortable for them. Third graders will have the opportunity to play percussion instruments, sing solos or duets, and mentor the younger members of Chorus. If you, or your child, are unsure about Chorus you may come and check out the first class before signing up. Please contact Pam Donkin to arrange. Registration may be completed after you attend the first class. Sports players may leave early during sport season.

Her objective is to acquaint children through conversation, dialogues, games and skits with expressions that are directly related to the home, school, nature and community. The French classes are primarily divided by age, not necessarily level of French. The teacher will divide the students in each class by level of French as appropriate. Ideally, students will begin studying French in grades K or 1 and move to an intermediate level in grades 2 and 3. Beginning or intermediate students are welcome in any of the sections. Grammar is not the focus, but is learned indirectly rather than through direct instruction. Exposure to customs and culture also play a large role in the learning experience from which students gain an awareness and appreciation of Latino culture. Classes are taught in small groups with tasks and activities adjusted to the students’ knowledge of the language. Classes are divided into levels which are grouped by proficiency and age and follow the natural sequence of language learning: understanding-->speaking-->reading-->writing. Level 1 is designed for students with no previous knowledge of Spanish or very limited exposure. Children build a basic vocabulary of colors, numbers, body parts, days of the week, months, directions, and basic greetings. Games, songs and stories are key in establishing and reinforcing skills. Level 2 is designed to enhance the use of vocabulary in basic conversation and composition. Level 3 will expand Spanish language skills with exercises in conversation, oral comprehension, and composition. All classes are repeatable. Students will be evaluated at the end of the semester for appropriate placement in the following semester.
