Colorado District Two dedicated the 2011 Colorado State Tournaments that they hosted in memory of Lish Wilson and in honor of the Wilson family. Lish Wilson was the player agent for Platte Canyon Little League and her son Parker Wilson was an All-Star player fro Platte Canyon Little League on their 10 and 11 Year Old Tournament team in 2010. Little League was very important to Lish Wilson and Parker.
In November 2010, Lish Wilson and Parker were on their way to church one Sunday when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on U.S. Highway 285 crossed over the highway and struck the Wilson vehicle head-on. Lish Wilson died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the other vehicle died a short time later at the hospital and Parker Wilson was very critically injured. Parker was hospitalized for several months after the accident which left him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Including Parker, Lish Wilson left behind three sons with no parent to care for them. The three Wilson boys are now living with a caregiver family.
A memorial fund has been established to offset the many costs resulting from this accident and to establish a scholarship fund for Lish Wilson's sons. If you would like to donate to the Lish Wilson Memorial Fund you can send a check made out to PCLL - WILSON BOYS FUND to: Mutual of Omaha Bank, 26679 Pleasant Park Road, Aspen Park, CO 80433 or to: Platte Canyon Little League, P.O. Box 1738, Bailey, CO 80421.

Midway Little League Softball girls represented the Southwest Region in Portland, Oregon during the 2011 Little League Softball World Series. After going 2-1 in pool play the Southwest advanced to the semifinal round of the championship. In the semifinal round the Southwest would go up against the Southeast and win by a score of 9-5. The Southwest would then move on to the Championship game and face the only team that has beat them this postseason, in the team from the Central Region. After having a 2-0 lead after the second inning, Southwest would give up seven runs in the the third inning. The comeback would fall short as the Southwest Region lost to the Central Region by a final score of 7-5. Congratulations to the Midway Little League on their second place finish in the 2011 Little League Softball World Series.

The Lafayette Little League Baseball team advanced to the Little League World Series and went 1-2 in the tournament, finishing their run with a loss to the Mid-Atlantic team from Clinton County, PA. The team represented not only Lafayette and the state of Louisiana, but the Southwest Region with pride, dignity, and class. The team's demeanor displayed everything that Little League is all about; both on and off the field of play.
But the Little League team was not the only team from the Southwest at the Little League World Series, nor the only team from Lafayette, Louisiana. The Lafayette Challanger Team participated in the annual Challanger Game held during the Little League World Series. Talking with coaches and players of the Lafayette Little League team, there was an importance that these kids placed on the Challenger Program. It says a lot about the parents in Lafayette and Little League when kids act like that.
The Southwest Region is very honored to have both these teams participate in the Little League World Series, and to have great kids and parents invloved in the Little League program in Lafayette, Louisisana.
