G. Scott Grove, directed the Little League Baseball summer camps and was a volunteer at the Little League Baseball World Series for many years. He passed away on Saturday (Sept. 4). He was 50.
Mr. Grove, a resident of Williamsport, Pa., volunteered countless hours in various capacities on behalf of Little League Baseball and Softball. The 1978 Montgomery High School graduate served as a coach, Assistant Director and Director of the Little League Summer Baseball Camps. He also volunteered his time working at the Little League Baseball World Series in several different capacities, including official scorekeeper, something he also did for the Little League Baseball regional tournaments in Bristol, Conn. Mr. Grove also volunteered his time to assist Little League staff at coaching clinics and was a regular contributor to Little League’s Coach’s Box Newsletter and various instructional content on the Little League web site.
Mr. Grove, who was a biology teacher in the Williamsport School District, served as the head baseball coach at Williamsport Area High School from 1988-2007. The last three seasons he had assisted his son, Nicholas, with the baseball program at Hughesville High School.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church, 380 West Fourth Street, in Williamsport, Thursday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m.
Survived by his wife, Tammi, and three sons, Nicholas, Nate, and Nevin, Mr. Grove’s family has, if desired, requested memorial contributions be made to the Scott Grove Memorial Fund, c/o the Williamsport Teachers Credit Union, 302 Matthews Blvd., in South Williamsport, Pa.

Little League's Eastern Region Headquarters has released its 2009-2010 schedule of meetings, clinics, umpire schools, baseball camps, and tournaments. The Eastern Region Staff will continue to host the following clinics at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little Leadership Training Center: (Please be advised that all of these dates are tentative at this time and subject to change)
