Long Island White Sox Team History
The White Sox were founded by a bunch of softball players who were fed up with "tee ball" and needed something more. Originally, all of us worked for the same company and played on the same softball team(s). Now, very few of us still work together, but while it's a different mix of players, the identical team concept the club was founded on still lives on. We all want to win, every game in fact, but we also want to have some of the best times of our lives on a baseball diamond. Friends of players heard about us, let us know they wanted to play; as long as they brought the right attitude, they were in. All players came with two goals in mind; play hardball and have fun. Simple. In my humble opinion, I think this team has achieved that and will continue aspiring to those creeds. No matter what the score, we're having a great time, making memories that will not be easily forgotten.
Our trip to Cooperstown in 2003 was a perfect example of how the White Sox feel about the game of baseball. We were all kids again, wide-eyed and in awe of where we were. We hit that field running and laughing and didn't stop until the last out was made. Yes, we played hard and played to win, but above all, we PLAYED! THAT'S what this great game of ours is for...to have fun. You're damn right I want to win, but not at the expense of the mututal respect my teammates and I have for each other and our opponents. The way this team has come together and performed AS a team, is more than enough for me. Life is too short to freak out over a GAME, even if it is the greatest game ever! Play Ball boys!
