Injury Reporting Procedures

ATTENTION ALL MANAGERS AND COACHES- ALL DIVISIONS

It is the manager/coaches responsibility to report ALL injuries sustained to either players or coaches during scheduled games or practices. It is a liability to LLN NORTH if we are not informed of injuries. The following procedures must be followed as outlined in the 2012 Safety Manual and as indicated during manager mtg with the league president prior to the start of the season:

1. An injury reporting form ( found in the concession stand, on clipboard near AED) needs to be filled out completely detailing the injury. Even if its a minor injury requiring an ice pack only. This form must be filled out that day and returned to the clipboard for safety officers review.

2. The safety officer and League President need to be notified via phone that day of any serious injury that requires medical treatment ( ie Rescue squad called to field, or injuried party taken by parents/guardian to hospital). Cell phone numbers for Safety Officer and President can be found on the Board Member Link on the main LLN web page.

3. There are several orange box first aid kits that are available to managers and coaches during game days. They are located in the concession stand and can be signed out for your games and kept in the dugouts. It is your responsibility to keep your kids safe so why not be prepared and have the kits in the dugout instead of the concession stand. If you use something from the first aid kits, let the safety officer or president know so it can be replaced immediately.

Bottom line is this: If we are unaware of an injury, then we have no way of helping to prevent that same injury to another player. Accident do and will happen...help LLN be prepared.

Thank You

LLN Board of Directors

Bat size chart

There are three standard barrel sizes for baseball bats: 2 ¼, 2 5/8, and 2 ¾ (full-size). The full-size barrels usually have a difference of 5 between their length and weight (conforming to rules set by many leagues and states regarding high school-aged players). Smaller bats should be selected with a difference of 8 or more between length and weight. For many young players, a 21 ounce bat that is 30 inches long is ideal.

Below is a rough guide for bat selection. It is simply a place to start and depends not only on the size of the player but the level of competition (better pitching may require a lighter bat). It is better to err on the light side rather than the heavy side. Today's power hitters in the major leagues use lighter bats than power hitters of yesterday.
