Litchfield Girls Softball League: LGSL 2011 Season Divisions
Instructional Division - Ages 4 to 6: The focus is on learning the basics of throwing, catching, hitting, and FUN rather than competition. Normal-size softer safety softballs are used rather than typical harder balls. Coaches pitch to players or a tee may be used. No standings are kept.
8U
8 and Under (U8) - Ages 7 and 8: Players are organized into teams and play using modified rules for younger players (ie. no stealing, no infield fly, etc). Combination of coach and player pitching. Smaller-size 11-inch standard softballs are used. Game standings are kept and playoffs are held at the end of the season.
10U
10 and Under (U10) - Ages 9 and 10: Players are organized into teams and play using modified rules for younger players (ie. no stealing, no infield fly, etc). Smaller-size 11-inch "standard" softballs are used. Game standings are kept and playoffs are held at the end of the season.
12U
12 and Under (U12) - Ages 11 and 12: Players are organized into teams and play using full rules that include infield fly, stealing, etc. Full-size 12-inch "standard" softballs are used. Game standings are kept and playoffs are held at the end of the season.
