2012 YOUTH BASEBALL CAMP UPDATE
CAMP AWARDS WILL BE POSTED MONDAY NIGHT AND MAY BE PICKED UP IN THE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC OFFICE BEGINNING TUESDAY OF THIS WEEK.
THE AWARDS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE WITH THE DELAY.
(CAMP AWARDS ARE SELECTED BY THE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS WHO HELPED WITH CAMP. AWARDS ARE GIVEN TO KIDS WHO DISPLAYED A HIGH SKILL LEVEL IN ONE OR MORE AREAS AND OR MADE AN IMPRESSION ON THE HIGH SCHOOL HELPERS WITH HUSTLE ,ENTHUSIASM OR GREAT ATTITUDE AND EFFORT.)

Marion is hosting, we are co-hosting
Monday, May 21st at Linn-Mar
5:00 Kennedy vs Washington
7:00 Linn-Mar vs Jefferson
Monday, May 21st at Marion
5:00 Xavier vs Mt. Vernon
7:00 Marion vs Prarie
Tuesday, May 22nd. We will play 7:00 game at home regardless.
Wednesday, May 23rd
5th and 7th place games at Marion
1st and 3rd place games at Kernels Stadium.

VARSITY AND SOPHOMORE PRACTICE BEGINS MONDAY, APRIL 30TH.
Our practice schedule depends on when we can get onto the new facility at Oakridge. At this time we have to plan to have access to only one diamond for all grade levels in May.
The current plan is:
April 30th - May 4th = sophs from 3:30-5:30, varsity from 5:30-7:30, no 8/9 practice.
May 7-end of school.
The varsity and sophs will rotate early and late practices.
early practice 3:30-5:30
8/9 grades 5:30-7:00
late practice 7:00-9:00
Sophomores will be early practice Monday, and Thursday Late practice Tuesday and Friday.
Varsity will practice early Tuesday and Friday and late on Monday and Thursday.
Varsity players should also plan on a Saturday morning workout in May (9-10:30) Saturday morning will be extra hitting and individual skill work and or strength training.
Wednesday practices in May are Soph 3:30-5:30, Varsity 4:15-6:30,
9th grade will practice 3:30-5:00 on a rotating team basis TBD.
There are no 8th grade teams this year. Instead 8th graders may play on one of our three freshmen teams. The 9th grade teams will be divided evenly with a mix of 8th and 9th graders. We will carry as many 8th graders as we can, but we may need to have "tryouts" just depending on the number of 8/9 graders that want to play. 9th graders will have first priority, and I can see carrying around 20 kids on each team comfortably. We will be flexible as we move into this new territory.

Kyle Rodenkirk has been hired as the new asst. varsity baseball coach. He will be replacing coach Lane, who will be persuing his masters degree.
Coach Rodenkirk prepped at CR Jefferson and went on to the University of Iowa before finishing his collegiate career at Winona State. Coach Rodenkirk has coached at Winona state, CR Jefferson, and most recently was the head coach at Anamosa High School.
Coach Rodenkirk brings a wealth of knowledge to the program and specifically to the catching position. Please help to welcome coach Rodenkirk to the Linn-Mar baseball family.

Brent Henry will be a new volunteer assisstant varsity coach this season.
Coach Henry teaches business courses at Linn-Mar High School. Most recently he was iterim head varstiy coach at Cedar Rapids Washington. He served on the Washington baseball staff from 2008-2011. Coach Henry also has been assistant head coach at Anamosa from 2004-2005 as well as at Tipton in 2003. Coach Henry has coached at the collegiate level as assistant head coach at Cornell college from 2003-2005 as well as 2011. He also was an assistant coach at Wartburg college in 2006.
Brent hails from Aurora Colorado and prepped at Smokey Hill High School. He played collegiately at Cornell College.
We are excited to add Coach Henry to the staff.

PROGRESS ON NEW BASEBALL / SOFTBALL COMPLEX AT OAKRIDGE!
Lights, dugouts, bleachers, surface, grass, scoreboard, hitting area, concessions, locker rooms, storage shed have all been either completed or started. You can veiw photos in the albums link.
There is an outside chance that we may be able to be on the new complex by then end of this season. Nothing is guaranteed until 2013.
