STATE MEET INFORMATION
Parents/Swimmers/Divers:
Here is the agenda for State Meet this weekend. (Divers need to check with Don to see if they are on the same schedule). We are very lucky this year that we will not have to contribute towards hotel and food expense. This is all being covered by the Athletic Department and Swim Boosters.
Parents, please send at least $20 with your swimmer/diver to cover snacks or whatever else they may need.
The cost of State Team clothing this year is $35 per swimmer/diver (shirt and hat). Please make checks payable to Lahser Swim Boosters and mail A.S.A.P. to:
Val Ellis
510 Tall Tree Lane
Bloomfield Hills, 48302 P.S. Parents: we usually have dinner on Friday night right after the meet with the team, but this year we are not going to because the swimmers are staying to watch all of diving and then they will go to dinner with the Andover team later that evening between 7-8ish.
Any questions: call or e-mail me.
Thank You,
Val Ellis

No more talking about it. Its time to DO what we set out to do 12 weeks ago. At the OAA League Championships, you and your teammates swam extremely well. If you go into next weekends State Championships with the same focus, desire and competitive fire that I saw at Lake Orion, then you WILL without a doubt be successful. Over the course of the next 4 days you need to again prepare yourself both physically and mentally. At practice, you need to do those things that will better enable you to perform this weekend. This includes long warm-ups, stretching, working on turns, working on starts, and most importantly, getting mentally prepared. FOCUS on the task before you. Have confidence in yourself and your team. At school, get your work done. Talk to your teachers and let them know that you will be competing Friday and Saturday. Ask them what you might be able to do to get ahead in class. If you have tests, papers, assignments due, get them in early, so that you don't have to worry about them. BE A RESPONSIBLE STUDENT / ATHLETE. At home, get plenty of rest, stretch, visualize, and eat right. Avoid conflicts. Parents, The Bloomfield Hills athletic department has will pay for the hotel rooms and $12 an athlete per day ($ 24) for food, and the boosters are contributing $50 per athlete which should cover the cost of the weekend (hotel and food) However you may want to send some extra money with your son for snacks and incidentals at the hotel.

Coach Rado: This week's practice schedule
Parents and swimmers I spoke with Deryl P (custodian) and he told me that he shocked the pool this morning as the chlorine level was very low and as a result the chlorine level may be high this afternoon. Having been around pools for many (some may say too many) years, high chlorine is only an issue with skin (dry) hair (dry) eyes (irritated and red, but all the swimmers wear goggles anyway) and suits (material may deteriorate faster than normal if exposed long term)
I do plan on having the varsity boys practice today as they got out early this morning (after warm up and I determined that the chlorine levels were very low which can be a concern depending on how long the levels were down). I will have them shower well and wash their hair (although they like that dry/tangled look)
The practice schedule for this week is as follows: Tomorrow (January 24) – NO practice, bus leaves for Rochester HS at 4:45pm Wednesday (January 25) – Practice 1 – 3 pm (recreation has the pool from 11 – 1) IA students can practice with Andover 3 - 5pm Thursday (January 26) – Practice 11 – 1, swimmers are to meet at Cranbrook (NO BUS) at 5:15pm, IA - NO practice Friday (January 27) – Practice 7– 9 for those in advanced conditioning class and 9 – 11 for those that are NOT in advanced conditioning, IA students TBD

Holiday Swim Practice Schedule from Coach Rado (FINAL)
The practice schedule for the boys (swimmers only - Don has not told me what his plans are for the divers) over the holidays will be as follows:
Thursday, December 22nd (8-11am) Friday, December 23rd (7-9am) Monday through Friday, December 26-30 (8-11am) Monday, January 2nd (8-11am)
Parents, PLEASE let me know if and when your son will NOT be in town for practice. The Athletic Director is coming in to open the building for us each of the days that the building would NOT normally be open (12/23, 12/26, 12/29 and 12/30) and I don't want him to have to make the trip if in fact none of the boys are going to be here anyway. To date, ONLY 2 boys have mentioned missing one or more practices so unless I hear otherwise I will assume the rest of the team will be in attendance.
Thanks for your patience on this.... See you all tomorrow at the Seaholm meet. M Rado
