La Grange Little League: LGLL Divisions

LaGrange Little League Structure
The LaGrange Little League structure is based on guidelines provided by Little League Baseball, International. Listed below is a breakdown of each league level within LaGrange Little League:


Tee Ball/Coach Pitch
Tee Ball: 6 Year Olds - Players hit a soft safety ball off of an adjustable batting tee. No score is kept. Basic game rules are taught, and players are rotated among the different fielding positions.

Coach Pitch: 7 Year Olds - Coaches pitch soft safety ball to their own players. Coaches also play catcher. Players have option to use a tee. As in Tee Ball, emphasis is on basic game skills.


Minor Leagues
Farm League:   8 Year Olds - Farm league emphasizes the basic fundamentals of throwing, fielding, and hitting. Player catching and pitching (2 inning max per player per game) is introduced and used in combination with coach pitching. A regular baseball is used. Scores are kept but not league standings.

C League:   9 Year Olds - Development of fundamentals continues: throwing, fielding, hitting and pitching. Specific areas such as throwing to proper base, backing up a player, and tagging the runner are practiced. Some modified rules allow for development of player skills. Player catching and pitching is limited to 2 innings per player per game to allow for development of all players. Scores and standings are kept with a post season double elimination tournament at the end of the season. Regular baseball is used.

B League:   10, 11 Year Olds - Baseball fundamentals continue to be developed. Base stealing and bunting are introduced, and infield/outfield skills continue to be stressed. Some modified rules allow for development of player skills. Scores and standings are kept, but only for seeding in the year-end tournament.


Major League
A League: 11, 12 Year Olds - Strong fundamental skills and team strategies are stressed in this more competitive league.   A strong commitment to the program is expected. Scores and standings are kept.



Softball-Fast Pitch
Peanut League: 8 Year Olds - Fundamentals of throwing, fielding and hitting are emphasized. Player pitching and catching is introduced, in combination with coach or pitching machine. A safety ball is used. Scores are kept, but league standings are not.

Minor League: 9, 10 Year Olds - Girls will learn the basic elements and skills of fast pitch softball. An 11 inch hard ball is used. Scores are kept but not league standings.

Major League: 11, 12 Year Olds - Fundamentals and skills continue to be developed, and strategies are emphasized. A strong commitment is expected to this more competitive league. An 11 inch hard ball is used.

Junior League: 13, 14 year olds - This is a continuation of league play for the older girls. Emphasis is on progression of skills and strategies.
