The Mavs bounced back this week with two impressive wins.  They beat Liberty by a whopping 61-12 score and handed a tough Texas Express team a 51-40 set back.  The win over Texas Express was one of the most impressive wins for a Mavs team, especially given that the Mavs did not have Ashley Nichols or Sarah Fitzgerald available for the week-end..

Cristie Albert had her best week this year scoring 17 points on several strong post moves and adding over a dozen rebounds.  Brittany Young had her best scoring day leading the Mavs with 24 points on some nice mid-range shooting and provided several assists on our out-of-bounds plays.  Both earn player of the week awards.

Fitzgerald, Boate Star But Mavs Lose

The Mavs lost two games in week two of the spring season to the Flower Mound Lady Jags and the Granbury Flash. Both teams were solid with strong defensive play.  In spite of the strong opponents the Mavs had chances to close the gap to 4-5 points in the second half, but could not sustain the effort in the fourth quarter.

Sarah Fitzgerald continued her stellar play taking on the toughest defensive assignment, handling the ball and scoring 13 points on the week-end.  She earns her second straight player of the week award.  Aubry Boate, after a slow start to the season, poured in 10 points in game #2 showing the kind of strong post moves that the Mavs will need to have a winning season.   She also drew numerous fouls on the opposing post players. She wins her first player of the week award.

Cristie Albert played a much stronger post this week having several strong moves to the basket and leading the team in rebounding both games.  She also scored 12 points for the week-end in a solid effort.  Brittany Young played her best defensive game in game #1 with many tie-ups, batted balls and steals.  She scored 10 for the week-end in a strong balanced effort.   Lauren Snow had a fine offensive game, scoring 6 points in game #1 by aggressively attacking the basket and making good shot selection.
