Letcher County Central Duo Signs w/ Pikeville College
A pair of Letcher County Central Cougar baseball players recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play for coach Don Ashby and the Pikeville College Baseball Bears.
Jonathan Tucker and Jonathan Adams will take their respective games to Pikeville College in the fall.
Jonathan Tucker was one of the mountain's top players this past season. He hit .404 with 55 hits, 6 homers, 28 runs batted in and 37 runs scored. He also ranked among the state leaders in doubles with 18. On the mound, Tucker won 7 games with an 2.80 ERA, as he helped lead the Letcher County Central Cougars to a 25-14 record and the school's first ever 14th regional baseball title.
Jonathan Adams hit .388 for Letcher Central with 51 hits. He is most noted for his tremendous defense which he displayed all season, but it really shined during Letcher Central semi-state series with Johnson Central. Adams made diving stops and barehanded plays, and it is that ability that caught the eye of Pikeville College head coach Don Ashby.
