2008 COUGARS WIN 3RD CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT TITLE

Despite having only one senior on the roster, the 2008 Letcher Central Cougars managed to win 22 games and remained perfect against 53rd district foes.  The '08 Cougars had a nine game winning streak, and were sitting on a 10-2 record going into CATS testing.  During the streak LCC won three consecutive games in their last at bat versus Magoffin County, Hazard, and Bryan Station.  They would drop six in a row before going on a seven game win streak.  They finished the season on a five game win streak, before losing in the regional tournament.

Behind the strong pitching of sophomore Ryan Brock, Letcher Central defeated Jenkins 10-0 in six innings to advance to the championship game.  Brock struck out 10, walked only one, and allowed only one hit.

In the championship game senior Colton Cook pitched his fifth complete game of the season.  He would pitch seven innings of shutout baseball, as the Cougars would roll to a 3-0 win over June Buchanan.  Making the all-tournament team from LCC was Ryan Brock, Matt Adams, Chase Adams, Tanner Sexton, and Colton Cook - M.V.P.  Letcher Central did not committ an error in the two games.  Dating back to '07 the Cougars have played four consecutive district tournament games in which they did not committ an error.  All four games resulted in shutouts.

In the regional tournament the Cougars would lose a heartbreaker to Perry Central by a score of 6-7.  Colton Cook was selected to the 14th region all-tournament team.
