Football practice! After Labor Day, each team has its own practice schedule, 3 days a week. Most practices will be 6-8 pm Mon-Fri on the playing fields at Lee District Park. Every participant should bring a large bottle of cold water. (Please, no energy drinks... many contain caffeine.)
Game schedule! Always check with your player's coach for the latest info on date, time, and location of your games! To see the regular season and post-season schedule, click the Links menu item and select Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL). At the FCYFL website, select Master Schedule.
Communication basics
Parents: Please stay in touch with your player's coach. Your young person must always have transportation to and from the field, and proper supervision at the field when not practicing or participating in a football game.
Weather alerts! Watch this space and check email after 3 pm on practice days when weather looks iffy. We will notify coaches of cancellations, and try to post alerts here. Parents: always make sure your player or cheerleader has a ride home! If you have questions, contact your coach or email lfflfootball@yahoo.com.
Every football player needs a photo ID issued by the Virginia DMV. Players must provide this ID to attend official weigh-in by our parent league, Fairfax County Youth Football League. The ID must be valid. Parents, please make sure to keep this ID card in a safe place all year.
Weather notes
- Check your email every afternoon on practice days! Fairfax County posts any field closures around 3 pm weekdays. Your coach or team parent should notify you of any changes, so watch for messages!
- Football practice does happen in the rain. If weather gets bad (thunder, etc.), we will end the session immediately. We may alter or cancel if air quality is unhealthy. Make sure your player always has transportation from the field.
- Cheerleading practice may be cancelled even if football is going on. The coach contacts parents if cheer practice is cancelled. If you are not receiving her messages, please let us know.
- Whenever possible, we will post cancellations or changes right here.
How's the weather? Since football games happen in many kinds of weather, teams practice in many kinds of weather. But we all know the weather can change quickly. If weather gets bad in the middle of practice or a game, the activity may be cancelled for safety reasons. Parents: You are responsible for taking your children home immediately if an event must be cancelled. Be sure that your player or cheerleader has transportation available at all times.
Questions? Email us! We are at lfflfootball@yahoo.com (click the link at the left of the screen, or highlight and copy the email address and paste it into the To: line of your email message).
Look over our calendar. We invite all LFFL parents to attend open meetings, where the board and coaches talk about all Wolverine matters. Meetings take place in the Hilltop Room of Lee District RECenter, 7 - 9 pm on the third Thursday of each month, from November through July (the off-season).
