Little League Rain Out Policy

Little League International has a written policy for rain outs, and here is how it works:

1.  Unless you receive a call from your coach cancelling your game, go to the field as scheduled.

2.  The league President has the decision on game play based on field and weather conditions, up until 15 minutes prior to game time.  At that time the umpires assume control of the game. The head umpire assumes the responsibilty of field and weather calls, in conference with the coaches to decide if field conditions are acceptable.

3.  It may be raining at your house or workplace, but not at the field!  This happens frequently and we manage to get the games in without rescheduling.

4.  If the President calls the game and time allows, we will post it on the website, send out a mass email, and call the coaches to confirm, sparking them to call you.  If you hear from no one, show up at the field.  We may play or be cancelled, but that means it is too close to call.

Please do not call the board members!    They know it is raining at their place, but the field conditions may not warrant a cancellation yet.   Please show up as scheduled unless you are called.

If there is a light mist or slight rain and the fields are fine, many times the games are played, just like in football.  Be prepared to bring your weather gear.  The kids don't melt, but sometimes it seems like we parents will.  Play ball!
