The LEBL Board is excited and honored to add Mike Murray to our team.  Mike, or Coach Murray as many of you know him by, is one of the great high school basketball coaches in this area.  Mike coached the Rocky River Varsity Girls to many WSC Championships along with a district title and a regional appearance.  Mike currently coaches the Rocky River Boys Varsity program where each year they contend for a conference championship and always contend for their district.  Mike currently lives in North Ridgeville and coaches in the LEBL.  We look forward to his expertise and vision as we continue to provide the best travel basketball league in Northen Ohio.  Welcome Coach!

The LEBL Board met last week and here are some of the conclusions and changes for the 2014-15 season:

All Board members will return and serve in their current roles.

Your voices were heard.  In our exit question at the end of the year to our coaches your responses were key in helping make some major decisions.   96% of you want to keep the man to man rule moving forward and 94% of you want to keep the registration fee the same and continue to hire our youth to serve as scorekeepers.  I appreciate the 62 responses and look forward to moving forward.

We will add a 3rd grade boys division and use the old 4th grade boys rules.

Important dates:  Registration due Oct 25, Schedule release/Coaches meeting Nov 19, First Game Nov 29.

The Lake Erie Basketball League is a developmental travel basketball league for community-based teams of third (boys), fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys and girls. For the 2014-2015 season, there are 106 teams in the various divisions, representing 25+ suburbs of Cleveland. Each team plays 10 regular season games, and there is a post-season league tournament. The LEBL was founded in 1997 by Gretchen Jones to give younger players an opportunity to play competitive basketball against talented players from other communities in a league setting. The League emphasizes individual and team fundamentals. To encourage the development of ball handling and court skills, zone defenses are not allowed at the fourth and fifth grade levels. Poor sportsmanship by players, coaches, or spectators is never tolerated
