Welcome to the

Lake Erie Basketball League

Champions History

(LEBL Founded 1997)

Thanks to everyone for another great season!  It had its share of great games and I know the girls and the boys in this league continue to grow with the sport.  A couple of HUGE announcements from your LEBL Board as we move into the 2015-16 season.

*  The LEBL will expand!  For the same registration cost as last season, you will receive 12 games plus the playoffs.  Yes, no extra cost, but added benefit to your kids and your program, as we will increase the number of games and NOT raise the price.  We will add a week to our season but feel it's a positive move in the right direction.

*  We will continue to support all communities who wish to have home games.  This league was built on the principals of equal opportunity for all communities!  Don't underestimate the feeling of community pride.  It goes a long way to building a program and it begins at this age.

*  We will continue to pay TWO (2) scorekeepers for each game.  This will insure your parents can enjoy the game as a spectator and let us focus on the task at hand with the proper staffing for each game.

*  The rules committee will meet before the season to see if we have any new rule changes but rest assure we will look to keep the game competitive.  Last year's changes were well received and I don't see much movement.

*  The GYM at Strongsville will host games on Saturday and Sunday each week during our season.  Another top level facility in which we have locked in the dates for next season to continue to bring the teams from the southern part of our league, the opportunity to keep travel at a minimum.

*  The LEBL Board is committed to provide you with the best basketball experience and we feel these immediate changes will continue to make your teams feel that the LEBL is the best travel basketball league.

Have a great spring and summer!  If you need anything, please feel free to reach out to me at any time!  Thanks for your support!

The Lake Erie Basketball League is a developmental travel basketball league for community-based teams of third (boys), fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys and girls. For the 2014-2015 season, there are 111 teams in the various divisions, representing 25+ suburbs of Cleveland. Each team plays 10 regular season games, and there is a post-season league tournament. The LEBL was founded in 1997 by Gretchen Jones to give younger players an opportunity to play competitive basketball against talented players from other communities in a league setting. The League emphasizes individual and team fundamentals. To encourage the development of ball handling and court skills, zone defenses are not allowed at the third thru fifth grade levels. Poor sportsmanship by players, coaches, or spectators is never tolerated
