*****Lax Power All Western Team Announced*****  Lax Power announced their All Western Team and Spencer Peterson made the prestigious team at defense, and T.C. Whaley was an Honorable Mention for midfielders.  Congratulations to these two La Costa Canyon players!

*****CA Gold*****  CA Gold has released the 108 players invited to the 2009 summer recruiting event.  Congrats to the following 12 LCC players picked for the event!  July 15 & 16 in San Ramon CA.

  • Rising Juniors:  Mike Riis (LSM), Sean Hayden (A/M), Michael Gennuso (A), Eric Sanschagrin (G), Andrew Bertha (M)

*****TEAM G.P.A. # 1 in the STATE!*****  As published from CIF and the San Diego Union Tribune.   Boys lacrosse: La Costa Canyon, 3.49The State CIF office has announced that our Varsity Boys' Lacrosse team has been recognized as State Academic Champions!. This means that those student-athletes maintained the state's highest collective team grade-point average (on an unweighted 4.0 scale) during the 2008-09 school year.

*****Rising Sr. LSM Steven Bogert to play in Under Armour Underclassmen All American Games*****  Bogert will play for the Midwest team and is one of only 3 CA kids to make the team.  The games will be played Saturday June 27th and Sunday June 28th at Towson University.  www.underarmourlacrosse.com

*****2009 Senior All Star Game*****  Picked by head coach of each team.  Number of players from each team dependent on how the team finished.  LCC had 5.  The game will be played at Bishop's at noon on Saturday June 13th.  Players need to arrive at 11:00.  Jerseys will be passed out at the game.  Congratulations to the following seniors!  Represent the program by wearing your LCC shorts, socks, and helmet!

*****North County Conference Awards*****  Voted by 9 head coaches of the NCC.  LCC features a total of 9 players earning honors, including the Conference Player of the Year, 5 players voted 1st team, 2 players voted 2nd team, and 2 players honorable mention. 

  • Player of the Year - Senior Midfielder T.C. Whaley. 
  • 1st Team - Jr. Attack Timmy Andrews, Sr. Midfield T.C. Whaley, Sr. Defense Cameron Revere, Sr. LSM Spencer Peterson, and Soph. Goalie Eric Sanschagrin.
  • 2nd Team - Jr. A/M Alex Pardieu and Jr. D/LSM Steven Bogert.

*****CIF Playoffs - LCC CIF Runner Up*****  LCC won their first round game vs. Granite Hills 12-0, won their quarterfinal game vs. Torrey Pines 14-4, won their semifinal game vs. Cathedral 15-3, and lost in the championship to Coronado 4-9.

*****LEAGUE CHAMPS!  LCC Beats Rival Torrey Pines*****  In a game that determined the North County Conference Championship, the Mavericks won their final regular season game vs. Torrey Pines during NCC Rivalry Week.  The win earned the Mavericks the NCC League Championship for the 6th straight year and a #2 seed in the playoffs with home field advantage through the Semis.  JV won 10-3!

*****Senior Night*****  At halftime of the Varsity game vs. Fallbrook 5/11 LCC honored its seniors in a game that was won 17-2 with a 13-1 halftime score.  Many thanks to the senior players and their families for years of fun, success, and achievement on the field and in the classroom!  LCC honors 8 seniors:  Matty Gillan, T.C. Whaley, Cameron Revere, Spencer Peterson, Logan Chandler, Connor Garrett, Ben Favreau, and Matt Williams.

*****Lacrosse Canyon*****  LCC has won the CIF San Diego Championship 3 times, played in the past 7 CIF San Diego championship games, and have won the North County Conference 5 consecutive times.  The North County Conference has produced 7 of the 8 CIF Champions to date since 2002 and offers the toughest league in San Diego with the likes of Torrey Pines, Poway, and Rancho Bernardo.  Their are 9 teams total in the league, and every team plays each other 1 time.  North County Conference: LCC, Torrey Pines, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Westview, Carlsbad, Mount Carmel, Fallbrook, and San Marcos.  CIF has not approved a CA regional or state championship, but most of the better teams in the state play each other year in and year out.

 *****LCC Alums 2009 Accolades*****

  • C.J. Small '08  (Fr. Midfield Villanova D1)  Helped Villanova to their first League title in the CAA with 3 goals in the championship game.  They will play Virginia first round in the NCAA Playoffs.  Earned a spot on the CAA All Rookie team. 
  • Cameron Zook '06  (Jr. Defense Towson D1)  Helped Towson to a leage championship game in the CAA.  Earned the Carl Runk award for his defensive play at Towson.  (Coach's Award)  Chosen as captain for his Sr. season by teammates.
  • Casey Hingtgen '06  (Jr. Defense Dartmouth D1)  Earned 2nd Team All - Ivy at Dartmouth despite a hamstring injury that held him out of the first 8 games. 
  • J.R. Oreskovich '05  (Sr. Attack Stevens D3)  Earned Honorable Mention at Attack for Division 3 and 1st Team All Empire 8 for his offensive play at Stevens Tech.
  • Damon DeLuca '06  (Jr. Defense Belmont Abbey D2)  Earned 2nd Team All Conference honors for his defensive play.
  • Chris Small '06  (Jr. Mifield Chapman MCLA)  Helped Chapman win the SLC championship and a #3 seed going to the MCLA Playoffs.  Earned 1st Team All SLC as a Faceoff Specialist.
  • Blake Whitcomb '06  (Jr. Mifield Chapman MCLA)  Helped Chapman win the SLC championship and a #3 seed going to the MCLA Playoffs.  Earned 2nd Team All SLC as a Midfielder.
  • Alex Hare '07  (Sr. Midfield Cal Poly MCLA)  Helped Cal Poly win their 1st WCLL Championship and a #7 seed going into the MCLA Playoffs.
  • Chris Plummer ' 08  (Fr. LSM Arizona MCLA) Helped Arizona reach the Championship game in the SLC Playoffs.  Earned Honorable Mention All SLC as an LSM.
  • Gabe Lupin ' 06  (Jr. Midfield Stanford MCLA)  Helped Stanford to a #1 seed in the WCLL Championships.  Earned 2nd team all WCLL as a midfielder.
  • Matt D'Angelo  (Fr. Midfield Sonoma MCLA)  Scored 2 goals and added an assist in a 10-9 victory over Lindenwood in the 1st round of the MCLA National Tourney.
  • Mike D'Angelo  (Sr. Goalie Sonoma MCLA)  Led his team to victory over Lindenwood in the 1st round of the MCLA National Tourney.

*****College Commitments for 2009/2010*****  Congratulations to LCC players who have committed to play college lacrosse in spring 2010.

*****WSL Player Rankings*****  West Side Lax has unveiled their Top 25 Player Rankings for Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores west of the Mississippi.  They will do this 3 times a year - each summer, winter, and spring. 

  • Spring 2009:  LCC has 9 players ranked: 3 Seniors (Peterson # 8, Whaley # 13, Revere # 20), 3 Juniors (Bogert # 4, Andrews HM, Tudor HM), and 3 Sophomores (Riis # 7, Gennuso # 17, Sanschagrin # 20). 
  • Winter 2008:  LCC had 7 players ranked: 3 Seniors (Peterson # 7, Whaley # 11, Revere # 16), 2 Juniors (Bogert # 13, Andrews # 25), and 2 Sophomores (Sanschagrin # 15, Gennuso # 16).
