The founder of the LBCA and former assistant LSU baseball coach Duane "Beetle" Bailey was inducted into the LBCA's Hall of Fame Friday, January 10, 2003, at the annual LBCA Convention held in Baton Rouge.

Bailey, who started the LBCA "on his desk at Denham Springs high school" in 1985, has seen the membership of the LBCA rise to over 400 members. Much of the early success of the LBCA is credited to Bailey, who united baseball coaches around the state to "honor, promote, and upgrade the game of baseball in Louisiana."

As an assistant coach at LSU, Bailey was with the first 2 national championship teams, serving as hitting coach. His undying committment to LSU and Louisiana baseball has inspired coaches from all over the South.

Coach Bailey is the second member of the LBCA's Hall of Fame.
