LBA: Program

The LBA baseball program includes recreational and competitve baseball. The program offers flexible rules and incremental levels of competitive play designed for the physical development, and safety requirements, of each age group.

Recreational Baseball Program

The LBA forms teams in both the Cal Ripken and the Babe Ruth Leagues. In Spring, players participate in a skills evaluation, and then assigned to a team. Practices begin in mid- to late-April, and games played in May and June.

Divisions of Cal-Ripken
For players beginning at 4 years old and up to 12 years old. Cal-Ripken consists of four (4) incremental divisions.

T-Ball Recommended for 4, 5 and 6 year olds, teaches the fundamentals of hitting and fielding, while learning to bat from a tee.
Rookie Recommended for 7 and 8 year olds, uses a pitching machine concept that results in more action at the plate and in the field, while avoiding the fear of being hit by a pitched ball.
Minors Recommended for 9 and 10 year olds, players continue to build and refine their fundamental skills, and gain a better understanding of the game.
Majors Recommended for 11 and 12 year olds, played on either a 60- or 70- foot diamond, pitching distances of 46- and 50 feet, respectively.

Divisions of Babe Ruth
For players aged 13 to 15 years old, and consists of two (2) divisions. This program partners with Hudson (NH) and Pelham (NH) Babe Ruth programs.

13-Yr Old Prep For 13 years old, transitions players to the 90-food diamond, overcome fear of playing with 14 and 15 year olds, and prevent players losing interest.
14-15 Yr Olds For 14 and 15 year olds, play is on a 90-foot diamond, and the original Babe Ruth division, dating back to 1951.

Competitive Baseball

The LBA offers two competitive baseball programs, Litchfield All-Stars and Litchfield Arsenal.
