The Lazers Soccer Club began in 1985 when University of Buffalo students Mike Meyers, Bob Lozo, Buffalo State student Brett Ewald, and Wilson High School students Shane and Shawn Ewald started to play indoor soccer with Dale Fornier and his team at North Tonawanda's Sportsplex, then Soccer World. Hearing that the Ewald brothers, Myers, and Lozo were playing soccer, several acquaintances inquired about playing. It occurred to the group that they had enough individuals to form a separate team, so they broke away and started their own club. Needing a name, the original team manager Mike Myers shamelessly took the name of the Los Angeles MISL franchise so that year, the Lazers Soccer Club began.
The first Lazers wore a plain blue adidas jersey with gold stripes. Said original Lazer Bob Lozo, "It was the hottest thing I've ever worn." This first team went without a victory for two sessions. "None of us had ever played soccer...we were bad." stated Brett Ewald. However, after a brief period, the team began to be competitive. During this time, many of the players on the team worked for Calkins Lumberyard, who sponsored the team for a short while. The blue and gold jerseys were replaced by white jerseys with a teal Lazers logo, designed by Shane Ewald who emerged as team manager. When asked how he ended up with the job, Ewald responded "I'm a sucker". The Calkins sponsorship brought the kind of rich soccer talent one would expect to find in a lumberyard, and a tradition was born.

During the '90 the team changed the color of the Lazers logo to maroon and continued to wear white jerseys. In 1993, in a decision that seemed good at the time the Lazers logo was updated and place on a green and purple tie-dyed jersey. This bold fashon move assured the team that no opponent would ever have the same color jersey. During the period of time between 1990 and 1995, the team was competitive and won its share of championships.

During the next several years the Lazers remained competitive and continued to win periodic championships. This period of time was highlighted by two games played in HSBC Arena then Marine Midland Arena against Brunners Tavern. The second game resulted in "the fracture heard round the marina" when Shane Elwalds lower leg was broken twords the waining moments of the game. To the delight of Shane's teammates the moment was captured on video, and the sickeningly audible snap footage was replayed at every opportunity.
In 1997, original member and team manager Shane Ewald moved to Dallas. Wanting to keep the team alive Devin Nagel and Bob Lozo took over running the team with help of Taylor and his wife Michelle.

In the year 2001 the Lazers underwent a period of change. The team abandoned the green logo and familiar green and purple tie-dyed jersey for a black white and grey color scheme. It was also around this time that the team became more aggressive, aquiring many players from the internet and other local clubs. This strategy paid off in 2003 when the team won its first championship since 1997. This was followed in 2004 by three championships including the clubs first undeafeated season, and a streak of 16 games without a loss. The most succesful season to date came while the club celebrated its 20th season of indoor soccer. During 2005 the team captured 5 championships including three consecutive playoff titles, as well as the last championship played on Sportsplex boarded field.
