The Lawrenceburg Lightning 12U played in their first tournament of the year on Sat. April 29th.  Our girls fought hard all day long as they had to play 6 straight games without a break.  It took them a little while to settle down, but as the tempature dropped and the rain fell, the Lightning Girls heated up and finished with the 3rd place trophy.

The Lawrenceburg Lightning Finished 3rd in their 2nd consecutive tournament.  Our girls had an "OFFENSIVE OUTBURST" in our first tournament game scoring 16 runs in 3 innings.  We played hard, pitched great, and swung the bats with power all weekend.

The Lightning Girls started a little slow this weekend.  They played well, but just couldn't get it going as they went 1 and 2 on Saturday.
They came back Sunday morning looking "pumped up and ready to play", but Mother Nature had other ideas.  Just as they started to warm up, the fields became flooded by a torrential downpour and the tournament was cancelled.

Inman - Rose Tournament

The Lightning Girls "LIT IT UP" at the 28th Annual Inman-Rose Tournament in Columbia, TN.   Our girls went undefeated on their way to becoming tournament champs, scoring 64 runs in 5 games.  Great pitching and spectacular defense held their opponents to just 7 runs total for the weekend.

4th Annual Fathers Day Classic

In Athens, AL"

Lightning 12U Girls played under the HOT Alabama sun this weekend in a tournament that drew some of the best competition in
 North Alabama.  The Lightning was dealt some game times that were hard to adjust to, going 1 and 2 on Saturday.  Unfortunately, that was followed by the dreaded 8:00am game time on Sunday.  Lawrenceburg battled hard, but was eliminated in a "back and forth" 7 to 6 loss.

10TH Annual Middle TN Summer Classic

"Lightning Girls are Fierce in Franklin"

Lightning played their best ball of the year this weekend in Franklin, TN.
Undefeated, the Girls finished number one in their pool on Saturday.
In tournament play, "POWER" was the name of the game, as the Lightning pounded the ball against some of toughest competition we have seen.  Lawrenceburg Lightning finished in fourth place out of twelve strong teams

USSSA State Tournament

"Have you ever heard of this Lightning Team?"

Everyone that was at the USSSA State Tournament was wondering "Who is this Lawrenceburg Lightning Team?"  By Sunday afternoon, they found out that they were one of the two best teams in the state of Tennessee.  These Lightning Girls hit the ball, ran the bases, pitched and played defense like a team bound for destiny, beating some of the top ranked teams in the state.  As the tournament came to a close, the Lightning Girls were crowned as "2006 USSSA Tennessee State Tournament Runner-Up!"

"Mid Summer Classic"

"Lightning Pitchers Fire 36 Ks at Fly Park"

On a weekend when our Defense wasn't as crisp as normal, the Lightning Pitchers made up the difference.  Four pitchers combined for 36 strikeouts in just five games.  On Offense, the Lightning Girls "Heated-Up" in the 95+ temperature scoring an average of 5 runs per game and finishing second in "Back to Back" tournaments.

The Lawrenceburg Lightning Girls were spectacular this tournament, as they finished with there 3rd straight Runner-Up Trophy.  Going undefeated in Pool play, as they have done in their last four tournaments, the Lightning 12U ran through the competition pitching five different pitchers and piling up runs with big hit after big hit all weekend long.  The "Injury Bug" bit the Lightning on Sunday with everything from sore arms and pulled muscles to falling in a hole while warming up.  The Lightning never gave up though, losing the first game by a tie breaker and fighting hard all the way down to the last out in the second game against the best travel team from Columbia, TN.

GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAIN CLASSIC

Our 12U Lightning Girls got a little taste of  playing in the 14 and Under age group this weekend in Pigeon Forge, TN.  Lightning came out and dominated in it's first game Saturday  winning  7-0 , while never letting their opponents reach first base.  Then the Lightning had to battle a very good team from Ashville, NC, losing in the final inning by a score of 4 to 2.
In the End, Mother Nature was the overall winner, raining out the rest of  the tournament on Sunday.

"A YEAR TO REMEMBER!"

The Lawrenceburg Lightning 12U Fastpitch Softball Team made the summer of 2006 one that they will never forget.  Playing in 9 different tournaments, the Lightning Girls faced some of the best Softball teams in the South Eastern United States. They played hard and gave it everything they had in each and every tournament, finishing one in 4th Place, two in 3rd Place, three with 2nd Place Trophies (including a Tennessee State Runner-Up Title), and one Championship Trophy.
