NORWICH BULLETIN PRE - SEASON TOP 10 / LAW RECEIVES VOTES

A new season begins this week for Connecticut high school wrestling teams. It’s largely the same cast of characters expected to rule them.

Danbury opens the 2009-10 season as the unanimous No. 1 team in the Norwich Bulletin preseason wrestling poll, the defending State Open champs’ 104th straight week in the top spot.

Following the Hatters is defending Eastern Connecticut Conference champion Bacon, and Fairfield Warde, last year’s Class L champion. Waterford, another ECC team — there are four in total in this week’s poll — sits in fourth after winning the Class M title last year, followed by New Milford, Ledyard and South Windsor, respectively.

Hand-Madison begins the season ranked eighth, just ahead of Xavier-Middletown and Killingly, the defending Class S champion.
