LASC GU9 Twisters Devastate Competition In Barrington Tournament
The first year LASC Twisters swept through the competition at the annual Barrington Tournament. The girls who had been practicing together for three weeks were matched up with Elmhurst Select in their first game and walked off with a 7-3 win. Game two was a hard fought battle that saw the Twisters take a 2-0 game from the Wilmette Wings Blue squad.
On Sunday, the top two teams were scheduled to meet as LASC was set to take on the Glenview Titans Select squad. The Twisters posted their second consecutive shutout en route to a 3-0 win. Their final game had them taking on Libertyville Black. Two minutes into the game the girls held a 2-0 lead as the Twisters coasted to a 6-2 victory and the Girls U-9 Division 2 Championship.
Rachel Moore scored 13 goals and Molly Bakrins, Jessica Weinberg & Camille Joyner posted two shutouts and a 1.25 goals against average in the net as the Twisters outscored their opponents 18-5. Other key contributors include: Alyssa Bombicino, Hannah Gallo, Alondra Medina, Brynn Miller, Alyssa Nekritz and Kate Weyhrich. The girls open up the regular season on Sunday at Millburn Central against the Wilmette Wings White squad.
