John Hassinger fundraiser
One month ago John Hassinger graduated from Cedar Crest High School and was eagerly waiting to start a new chapter in his life. He was going to attend West Virginia University on a soccer scholarship, continuing his passion for soccer at a Division One school and planning a career in business.
July 1, John was vacationing with his family in North Carolina when he dove into shallow water, breaking his neck and leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. In a split second, life for John and his family changed forever.
John has always been a fierce competitor as seen in the archives of Cedar Crest High School. He is one of the all-time leading scorers in the school's 30+ years of soccer history. Now his teammates and friends have the challenge and opportunity to "Score for John." The GOALS: In order to help John and his family with the financial consequences of his accident, we have established three goals. The first goal is the organization of The Hass Attack 3v3 Soccer Tournament. The second goal is the selling of John Hassinger wristbands. The third goal is the establishment of The Johnny Hassinger Benefit Fund to accept monetary donations.
Please consider this championship endeavor and help us "Score for John". Donations may be payable to, Johnny Hassinger Benefit Fund.
Each "goal" will help insure a victory in John's fight for rehabilitation. In addition to your monetary contributions, we also ask that you keep John and his family in your prayers.

PIAA Meeting Minutes September 28, 2009
George opened the meeting with concerns of the safety of referees at game sites. It was decided that George would be in touch with Darrell with an email survey as to our opinion, or measures to secure our safety. Please look for this and respond. It is very important that we leave as a duo if possible and exit immediately after the game.
John continued the meeting on this subject-a player is cautioned with 2 min. left the 1st half. The player starts the 2nd half ignoring the rest of the “time out” imposed on a caution player. You need to deal with the coach on a verbal warning.
Page 77 in the rule book discusses ejections. Discussion on deliberate handballs, abusive language/insulting language towards player or referee needs to be dealt with.
Ejections-do the paperwork for PIAA with copies to the school and to Darrell, Tim and George. Questions on game problems or scenarios-email John. If there is a problem with the AD of the school, it was suggested to be in contact with the superintendent of the district.
John Eder reminded us of our dues payable now. If in doubt of your meeting status, email Ada.
In the absence of Darrell, no games were handed out and the meeting was adjourned @ 8:00. 2 more meetings left in this season-Mon. Oct.5th and Tues. Oct. 13. Banquet-Nov. 19, which also counts as a meeting.

PIAA Meeting Minutes September 21, 2009
Tim opened the meeting and John took over. Please check your rule book for the COMPARISON OF NFHS/NCAA/FIFA when it involves coming to a decision on the call. This is found on page 69. John continued with issues on game control. Be aware of the skill level of the players, and attitude of said players. Watch for illegal slide tackles and legal slide tackles. Illegal needs a caution. Watch for dissent or frustration of the players and maintain your professionalism.
Are you in position to make the call, are there delaying tactics, are there deliberate tactical fouls being keyed on certain players? Keep communication open with the players and with your partner. Never threaten a player. Body language is crucial. You are there to represent your craft. Do you look the part? Are your signals precise and clear? Use style and authority and throw the arrogance out the window.
Avoid questionable calls, use proper mechanics and make sure of your re-starts.
Darrell continued the meeting with a few games which needed covered. He also said it is a strong possibility that Jr. High ball will also stay in the Fall season. Be prepared for the season and be there to help Darrell as much as possible.
If you haven’t paid your dues to John Eder, please do so, as you have only 3 more meetings to do it without penalty. Next meeting-Mon. Sept. 28, 09-7:00.
