"Home of the Champions": History

HISTORY OF FCHS FOOTBALL
1905-06  ---  The first organized game was played at Longmont and FCHS lost 20-0.  A coach was hired after the team lost the second game.

1906-07  ---  The Northern Athletic League was formed

WHY "THE HOME OF THE CHAMPIONS"? - The saying came about because there were so many state championships from the 1920s-1950s.

CHSAA ALL-TIME FOOTBALL RECORDS -
State Titles - Limon is #1 with 14 and Fort Collins High School is #2 with 12 state titles

TD Passes in a Game - Tied for #2 with seven in 1949

Longest TD run from scrimmage - Tied for #1 with 99 yards by Bill Shoemaker in 1963.

MASCOT and COLORS - Our old mascot was a gentle lamb (Leroy) - today it is the tough face of Clyde.  We are the only LAMBKINS in the country.  Wear your purple and gold often and with pride.
