Pitching and defense was definitely the key to the win.
Indians Win East Tennessee Bash The Lakeway Indians took home the Championship from the East Tennessee Bash on May 17-18. Rain outs have brought a slow start to the season, but chemistry is building within the team. Many players stepped up to make plays this weekend for the Indians. Continued hard work will pay dividends as the team plays the next three weekends culiminating with Myrtle Beach. Tuesday, April 29 Thunder Classic 6 Rain Out for Sunday The Indians continued their tourney schedule with the Thunder Classic 6 at Knox County Sports Park on April 26 and 27. Pool play ended Saturday with a 1-1 record, but the win was a big one against Team Xtreme. After two losses against them during the 2007 season, the team was ready to avenge the defeats. Sundays scoreless game was stopped after the second inning due to inclement weather. On a sad note, the team lost Tanner Mullins for a few weeks because of an arm injury suffered during pre-game warm ups.

After being rained out for two weekends, the team was ready to hit the field against anyone. The first game had a disastrous start with the Indians being down 5-0 after the top of the first against the Halls Red Oaks. From that point, the team started the 6-5 comeback victory. Game 2 brought forth a 7-0 shutout of the Knox Orioles. Great pitching, defense, and timely hitting was the theme on Saturday. The Indians saw a letdown in their intensity and focus in the final game and therefore came away with another runner-up finish. Friday, May 4 Indians Continue Success The Lakeway Indians continue their successful run with a 3-1 record at the Volunteer Classic on April 28-29. The Indians got wins against the Greeneville Marlins, Georgia Warriors, and Central Cougars.
